Personal background
I was born in Pasadena Texas back in 1956 . I am now 45 years old and live in Houston Texas USA .
I work for Southwestern Bell Telephone as a Communications Technician . I keep the big main frame computers that provide dail tone and switch calls , up and running .
My first computer was a MITS Altair 8800 , which I built from a kit back in 1975 , back in the days before PC's .
I am a volunteer at KPFT 90.1 Pacifica Foundation , here in Houston . I host and produce a weekly three hour BLUES program "Redeye Special" which airs every Sunday from 6 - 9 AM CDT . As I am on the air , I often wonder if ET is doing their SETI project in a galaxy and time far far away . KPFT is a 100,000 watt FM station , so I know the signal has left the planet . I often encourage my radio audience to join Seti@Home .
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I have been intrigued with radio astronomy for many many years . I thought about doing SetiFox amateur radio astronomy (SETI) with the SETI LEAGUE . Then I ran across the Seti@Home project , I knew this was what I wanted to do ! I have had a few friends that passed on their older PC's to me , so my little Seti Farm is growing . To save space I put the PC's in rack mounts cases , when I rebuilt them . My little Seti Farm is busy 24/7 looking for that WOW signal . I am very pleased that the Seti@Home project has been extended beyond two years . I would like Seti@Home to get involved with the Southern SERENDIP project in Australia , that way we can help search the southern skies .
