I am 54 years old. I am a computer geek. I live in Central Oregon with 10mbs internet speed but is just fine for SETI@HOME. I have 2 computers running this and I don't see why everybody does not do this.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do it because I want to help any way I can. Being 54 years old I remember my mother ironing the close watching the Neil Armstrong land on the moon. We have come so far in 50 years and this younger generation takes everything we have done for granite. I remember when the Mars Rover had sent the first pictures and I could not wait to see the photos in the paper the next day. I tapped into Nasa computers at blazing 56k to snag the hi-res photos. It took most of the night to download. It was so easy to hack in back then. I was in awe at the pictures. Now it's just the norm to see those pictures. I want it to be the norm that we talk to other worlds or at least listen in and try and figure out what they are saying about us. I want to be a part of that.
