Profile: Diane Korach

Personal background
Live in NYC, USA. I have an MFA and work in the field of Child Welfare. My father's love of hard science and science fiction was transmitted to me and so, when I discovered that I could be a part of SETI, I jumped at the chance. Periodically, I think I might like to see a different screen saver on my computer but then I think of the significance of the one I currently have and change my mind!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think SETI is, quite possibly, the most important project currently running and feel honored to be a part of it. To think we are the only sentient life in the universe is both arrogant and small. Of course I believe there is life out there. I hope that with the help of SETI we find it and are able to make contact. I also hope such contact would be beneficial and not detrimental to our existence, but we are a curious race of beings and so must continue our search. I am a member of the Planetary Society and find the work they initiate, fund, and become a part of to be the most exciting thing happening. I wish more people in the US, including the government felt space was worth spending money on.
