Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Well, I firmly believe that somewhere in this vast universe of ours there has to exist other intelligent life. With all the billions of galaxies and billions of stars within them and the billions of years for life to emerge, suggesting that we're the only results seems faintly ridiculous.

On the other hand, the idea of an alien civilization would be pretty fantastic. So either way it turns out, whether there's other intelligent life out there, or Earth is the sole seat of consciousness in the entire universe, it would be an incredible prospect.

It's hard to believe

That there's nobody out there

It's hard to believe

That I'm all alone

-Red Hot Chili Peppers (Under the Bridge)

It is the nature of the mind that makes individuals
kin, and the differences in the shape, form, or manner
of the material atoms out of whose intricate
relationships that mind is built are altogether
trivial.

- Isaac Asimov
