Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
I have always admired science, and space. I think that space is the most beautiful, powerful and mystical place in existence. It is truly the final frontier. It is my hope and dream that more people truly realize its potential. I believe that space will unite humanity in a common goal: Exploration. We are all explorers no matter our current occupations. Therefore, being the explorer that I am, I started running SETI@home the instant I heard about it almost two years ago. I do believe in ETI. In the most logical sense, it boils down to numbers. There are millions of stars in varying stages of life in this galaxy alone. If just one out of a million stars supported a planet with a life supporting environment, there would be literally hundreds of species out there, maybe thousands! It is that prospect, and my own desire to meet someone else out there that keeps me going! I believe that we will discover them in due time. |
