Personal background
I'm 17 and I live in Michigan. I love working and playing on computers. The internet is like electricity to me, I feel isolated and bored without it. I'm currently unemployed, my dream job (right now anyway) is to work on computers in a small garage type business with about 5 people. I also like aircraft, I currently only fly virtual, but I'll be flying RC very soon.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I'm not sure if extraterrestrial life exists or not, that's why I'm participating in SETI, so we can find it sooner if it does exist and I'll know for sure.
I don't think we should send a beacon out for ETs to find, one reason is because they very likely wouldn't understand a single thing we send, it's also likely that they won't reply. It's better for us to find a signal before deciding to send one, we might be able to get information from the signal that tells us how friendly the ETs would be.
I don't believe ETs would be anything like what we've seen in the movies, they're very much likely to be bacteria or some other form incapable of sending signals for us to find.
I also don't believe ETs have even tried coming to Earth yet, because we haven't had any solid proof from all the UFO sightings which we probably should've detected approaching Earth, it also doesn't make much sense to travel so many lightyears just to fly around in our atmosphere.
