Personal background
Hmm - large expanse of white screen ..... must fill!

Am 37 (sigh) years old physically and a mental age of about 7 :-) - well I try (giggle)
I was born in Merthyr Tydfill which is found in the "Valley" area of South Wales. I am very proud of my Welsh heritage and just wish I could speak the language (sigh!)
My father was in the RAF so we travelled a fair amount and I became very good at making friends easily and quickly. My actual friends though were books. Every 2-4 years I would have to leave all the friends I'd made at the various camps or schools but my books never deserted me!
I am an avid reader of most things (except trashy romance - yeuck) especially science fiction/fantasy or straight fantasy and am a self-confessed cartoon junkie. I love Pratchett, Eddings, Heinlein, Conan-Doyle, Auel, Austen, Bronte, May, Asprin (Phule books), Durrell, Hughart, Jacques, .... the list is endless and there's not enough room here!
I am VERY happily married with 2 children (Alex who's 5 and Beth who's 4!!). They make life .... interesting! But I wouldn't change them for the world :-))
Before they were born I (& my husband) were members of a English Civil War re-enactment society called "The Sealed Knot". It was hard work (sometimes) but a lot of FUN!
I paint (a little) and do tapestries - although since the "Terrible Twosome", I've been doing a lot less!
My main hobby is RPG (or Role Playing) - I game in many different systems and enjoy the freedom becomming a different person allows me. I tend to play clerics as the combination of healer and warrior has always fascinated - on occasions I have been a male dwarf cleric, a female drow (dark elf)shapechager, and a medieval nun!

I do wish that I could speak more languages as people with the multilingual talent has always impressed me !

Hope you enjoyed :-))
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I cannot believe that a universe SOOOOO vast should only have life on one small blue planet! I find the suggestion that there is no life (intelligent or otherwise) "out there" to be supremely arrogant.
I would like to think that "First Contact" is benign and possibly a meeting on another planet that's neutral to both species. The benefits would be extraordinary but the most fundemental .... we are not alone.
If you mean an update on the Voyager one - then yes! But the idea of the 1st beacon was good - keep it simple.
I run SETI because I believe that there is someone "out there" - I just hope we're not disappointed.

It's looking good - fellas - keep it up!
