Profile: BDM

Personal background
Humanoid, approaching middle age (I hope), independent unemployed type person.

Enjoy sci-fi/fantasy (anything), re-releases of B-type movies with bigger budgets, golf (enjoy it so much, always take more strokes than required), my family, the mysteries of the frontal lobes.

Always in search of that higher intellectual presence...always figured humanity was a lab test for someone else, and I don't think our grade point average is very high.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Assume the odds of there being extraterrestrial life is high...not that egotistical to believe the entire universe was created solely as our playground.

Benefits...always a learning experience

Dangers...some military or government doughhead will shoot first and ask questions later.

Beacon...sure...tell them we're not all the same and be careful who you initially approach. Please call before visiting.

SETI@home...interesting concept...cool solution to the CPU time required to analyze enormous amounts of data.

Basically, I would assume extraterrestrial life would take a don't call us, we'll call you attitude, especially if they are more advanced. Figure humanity is still in the growth process of the evolutionary cycle and we need to learn little thing like getting along with one other before we can socially respond to someone from another planet or galaxy.
