1) Questions and Answers : Windows : Computation errors, need advice (Message 1338286)

Post:
I installed a new GPU last night, did clean install of drivers, now all cuda tasks are having computation errors. Installed 650ti and latest drivers and after getting errors, I tried re-installing BOINC, still same thing.

I have tried the 2 solutions I can from the GPU forum. (downgraded drivers and the advanced system settings)Same result

I would be happy for any help ! Thanks !

I am so sorry

The file name needs to be cc_config.xml

I made type-o when I posted that and didn't notice, I am so sorry you went through all that. My mistake, do as I mentioned before and you will have solved it.

Just save as cc_config.xml and save in ProgramData/BOINC directory

It works please believe me, I have had to do it two times before. I dont know where your folder may be as I have custom directories on my side. But it needs to be in where ever your Boinc folder is under ProgramData/BOINC

Shut down BOINC fully, open notepad, paste this into it WITHOUT the periods (...)

<cc_config>
...<options>
.......<use_all_gpus>1</use_all_gpus>
...</options>
</cc_config>

Save it as ccconfig.xml in BOINC/Program Data directory. After that open BOINC back up and both cards will be used.

If you end up saving it as a .txt file it wont work. you may need to rename it after and will have to change folder options in windows uncheck Hide extensions for known file types.

I have about 4 pages of validation pending tasks that were completed and reported as far back as September and as recent as October. My question is, will these ever be validated or is this some error?

Thanks !

Yeah, I have not messed with that setting, it is default. I wanted to assign less resources to LHC because it lags the laptop out when running hoping that might help, it seems to have worked somewhat. thanks for the info

Is it possible to change the resource share in BOINC for certain projects? Like give SETI 50% resources and two other projects 25% each?

Thanks !

I have a question about installing 2 PCI cards I have. I am currently running 2 9500GTs in SLi. I also have 2 GeForce 9400 GT 1GB 128-bit DDR2 PCI cards and 2 avail PCI slots, would installing these allow me to crunch 2 more GPU tasks?

Well they have all been being assigned to GPUs on my end the last 5 days, up to that point I ran 2 CPU tasks and 2 GPU tasks day in and day out.

Someone else posted that info in another thread a few days ago.

A pair of 9500's in Sli mode will only be recognized by BOINC as one GPU.

It has ran as two for the last month, and I have tried disabling SLI, samething

As I said, it was running two CUDAs up until about 6 hours ago when I updated NVIDIA drivers. Now it thinks I only have one GPU.

EDIT: Just checked BOINC under computers and it seems to think I only have one GPU. Although windows recognizes both in system and I am currently in SLi mode.

app_info ? is this a file you are referring to?

I also tried reverting back to previous nvidia drivers, same thing.
