In this message, Eric reported he was running a script to clean up some v6 validation problems. Might be what happened here.

Ok , I read some of that ... Just seems to Be a waste of the data , That might be the one that has a msg from our nearest neighbors out there.

Oh well, just be another 2000 years before we get another msg... LOL

The good thing is with all us old farts around, there's usually SOMEBODY that remembers how to fix things....

YES , And Thanks to all the Older people that is willing to share their experience and know how with the rest of us that , maybe ( most of the time for me anyway ) feel dumber than DIRT...

I do actually have a few skills , LOL , Just nothing that will do me any good in this field...

So Again , Kudos to all of you for all your patience and help from ( I hope ) all of us who need it so very much , so often . !!!

Thank you guys! You are making very good progress and making it easier and better for me. I appreciate all the hard work and candles burned at both ends and weekends foregone and dinners eaten cold and T.V. not-watched and spouses unseen and home repairs unmade and ashtrays un-emptied and caffeine consumed and ethanol unconsumed. I appreciate your time and your energy, your passion for this work, and the financial sacrifices I'm sure you have made for the project's sake.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

I wish I could give you a standing ovation that you could see.

+1

We all could only say thanks to the Lunatic Team for their excelent job. <Aplause>

+1 too...

Where would that XML file be ?
Boinc folder or projects folder ?
I found this in the Boinc FAQ Service link you posted , Just like it is , would it work ?

I have Wild blue Sat internet , that is having some problems with intermittent connections ( effects of opening web pages is BAD )

If you've re-booted the PC & Modem, and are having issues with your ISP, i'd go with the upload problem being a result of the ISP issues.

I am looking into that with the ISP tech people also.
They say that they are showing a good signal / connection from my modem to them.
That is why I posted a excerpt from the event log also on an earlier post here.
BUT , I am still having a running discussion with them about the situation also.
They are supposed to run some more in-depth tests on their end and get back to me on it.
This is happening on all the PC's ...
I even took the router out of the circuit and went straight from the modem to my main PC and still have same problem . Ran antivirus , Spybot S&D , and did a network diagnostic test... no help...

I will check back tomorrow if the internet is still working enough to do that.

I have no clue.

I'd reset the router, shut-down and restart the computer, and if that didn't work, I'd go get a tall refreshing glass of something caustic and I'd pour it into the computer, then, if anything was still moving I'd kick it, and maybe take it outside and shoot it right between the DIMMS.

At some point, you just gotta.

Whew... I'm glad that's over.

Now, what were you saying? Oh yeah, it uploads the whole file, says it uploaded the whole file, and then tells you that it's going to retry uploading the whole file?

I think what I'd do is reach deep inside the case and yank every wire I could get my hands on so hard that I'd either dislocate my shoulder or end-up throwing the entire computer completely across the room. Then I'd run across the room grabbing for any heavy object I could reach, and I'd pound and pound and pound it until it was completely unrecognizable as a computer, then I'd take it out into the driveway and run over it with the car.

...but maybe that's just me.

Well... LOL... as tempting as that is ... I wouldn't be able to replace it for a VERY Loooong time , so I am holding in all that and hoping to fix it... LOL

Yes all the above many times ...

I have Wild blue Sat internet , that is having some problems with intermittent connections ( effects of opening web pages is BAD ) But all the Uploads get to 100 % and go to retry in ? time... I have obnly been able to get 5 WU's uploaded in several hours of hitting retry .

You've checked the Proxy settings, I'm guessing?

Not using proxy , never had to before .

Since I can post here and open account page and computers page , Leads me to wonder what is wrong ... !
Anybody have any suggestions ?
I have Wild blue Sat internet , that is having some problems with intermittent connections ( effects of opening web pages is BAD ) But all the Uploads get to 100 % and go to retry in ? time... I have obnly been able to get 5 WU's uploaded in several hours of hitting retry .

Bernie

Based on Boinc Stats, your credits were sitting around 55k-58k per day. Since migrating to v7, credits for work done yesterday dropped to 41.4k for the day, more than a 25% reduction compared to previous history.

But my position has risen, so it is an across the board thing. Also my number 3 cruncher has had no GPU tasks since Friday due to me making a mistake in the app_info.

I crunch SETI for science not numbers, the only thing I use credit for is to see how my machines preform against each other, not anyone else.

If you don't like what is happening I suggest you e-mail D Anderson or Eric and complain.

Whatever happens even if they stopped giving out credit tomorrow and just recorded the number of WU's completed, would make no difference to me, been here almost since the start.

The only thing that matters is that we are doing valid work for the project, hopefully V7 will ensure we are!

+1 ... If I was in to this just for the stats , I would QUIT in embarrassment at how pitiful I am doing... ROFLMHO

Ok , I got 6 wu's with LONNNNG estimated run times , That was expected , I checked the event log and found these errors showing up , I Guess the files will be downloaded as needed ?

Not sure what happened there. Please:

Shut down BOINC
Re-run the installer - make sure you've chosen the right one (32-bit or 64-bit) to match the version of BOINC you're running.
Re-start BOINC
Post the first 30-40 lines from your event log.

I suspended , shut down Boinc and re-booted the pc , The log shows normal now.
All that is gone, Log looks good...

Ok
I have it installed on my win 7 64bit machine , Have 1 question...
The app_config.xml file that I put in earlier , to run 2 GPU WU's at a time , Is it ok to disable that by changing name to " app_configOLD.xml "
Or should I just leave it as it is ?

Mine has taken a dive. My question is though where is the best place to find out about optimizing a GPU. I have an Nvidia GTX550Ti. It only does one work unit at a time. I am running a quad core with 3 cores on Seti and the GPU. Any help greatly appreciated. Thx.

Here is a app_config.xml file to put into your project dir.

<app_config>
<app>
<name>setiathome_v7</name>
<gpu_versions>
<gpu_usage>0.5</gpu_usage>
<cpu_usage>.04</cpu_usage>
</gpu_versions>
</app>
</app_config>

It will run 2 GPU WU's at a time , if you want to run 3 , just change the 0.5 to a 0.33 and save.

Copy the above and save it in notepad as " all files " , name it app_config.xml

6/2/2013 2:57:29 PM | SETI@home | app astropulse_v6 not found in app_config.xml

Maybe this is because I had unchecked V6 and Ap's ?
If you haven't run those since you reset the project to go to v7. the aps are not present and it's just saying I don't see that app. Could just ignore or remove those sections until you need them.

Boinc has sent me 1 AP V 604

6/2/2013 3:38:27 PM | SETI@home | Started download of astropulse_6.04_windows_intelx86__opencl_nvidia_100.exe

Do I need to install something before that starts crunching ?

It might change if you stop boinc and restart it. Mine said it was using 1 gpu for each task before i restarted boinc

Hey , That worked , using 0.06 cpu per gpu now...
although this was about the 3rd time I restarted boinc , to get it to do that... LOL
