Setting GPU workunit count for individual PCI bus
(Message 1673737)
Posted 4 May 2015 by GTP Post: I have a computer that has 2 750ti's and a 760 along with a couple 780's and a 980. 3 workunits on the GPU's work great on the bigger cards. But the 750ti's and the 760 choke and prefer 2 work units. For the time being I have all the cards running 2 WU's. But I noticed on the NVIDIA GPU usage meter the bigger cards are only using about 75% usage. I want that crunching power! Is there a way of setting individual slots with different work unit counts? GTX 980 Resisting Memory Speed Setting with EVGA Precision
(Message 1662420)
Posted 8 Apr 2015 by GTP Post: I found I couldn't adjust the memory speed clocks with Precision X on a new 980. Then I stumbled on the fact that the setting will not stick if you have the GPU loaded. Exit SETI and wait a few seconds for the process's to stop and then try it. Then start SETI again. All the best, Aaron Lephart TechVelocity.com |

GTX 970 lack of promised full 4.0GB RAM buzz
(Message 1636780)
Posted 2 Feb 2015 by GTP Post: Doesn't anyone have anything to add to this news? I imagine it effects SETI users in the fact that you don't ONLY crunch SETI with your GPU's? Right? The brief story is only 3.5GB of the cards RAM has full speed. The other 512MB is pooled into half speed or less. Wonder if this should affect users considering a 970 vs a 980? All I know is AMD is having a field day with this! All the best, Aaron Lephart TechVelocity.com |

Geforce 750Ti x3 TDP to much for PCI-E bus?
(Message 1521154)
Posted 26 May 2014 by GTP Post: Hello! I am currently running 2x GTX 570 GPU's and a 8core AMD CPU for SETI. I have thought about getting 3x GTX 750Ti to bring the power use down. My question is since the GTX 750Ti cards dont have an external power supply connector, will 180watts be supported by the PCI-E bus on the motherboard without frying something up. Each 750Ti card is 60watts is how I came up with the 180watt. All the best, Aaron Lephart www.smartcar451.com |

Need help doing CUDA job's ONLY!
(Message 1390334)
Posted 13 Jul 2013 by GTP Post: I have a small shuttle XPC cube PC that I want to crunch with. It has a Athlon X2 6000+ CPU but I am only seeing 400ish RAC from it. Since the PSU that comes on the shuttle is a 300watt I thought I could safely crunch faster be using a EVGA GT620 CUDA card and not doing any CPU jobs at all. Just have it there for some I/O. However I installed the card, BOIC recognizes its existence in the event log but it not requesting and new jobs. It's the "XPC2" computer in my profile. Any ideas? Your help is welcomed!
