Same here. The V8 rollout could have been alot better organized. And to not have GPU work for so long really sucks. I have never had such much heartache over a volunteer program.

Ditto here, nearly 200 jobs marked invalid with 30-50sec CPU times.

Oh yeah, and the whole reason for asking is that computer was the wingman on a task for this account:

Can someone explain how something like this happens? A lot of jobs are timing out to....

7) Message boards : Number crunching : Setting GPU workunit count for individual PCI bus (Message 1673737)
Posted 4 May 2015 by Profile GTP
I have a computer that has 2 750ti's and a 760 along with a couple 780's and a 980.

3 workunits on the GPU's work great on the bigger cards. But the 750ti's and the 760 choke and prefer 2 work units.

For the time being I have all the cards running 2 WU's. But I noticed on the NVIDIA GPU usage meter the bigger cards are only using about 75% usage. I want that crunching power!

Is there a way of setting individual slots with different work unit counts?

All the best,
Aaron Lephart
8) Message boards : Number crunching : PCIe x1 GPU cards? (Message 1666958)

FWIW I have a 780 running on a PCIe x1 slot with no problems. The extender cable is however powered by a MOLEX.

I am running 2 780's with riser cards. I would just to make sure they are POWERED risers. I tried the standard non powered version and just like you finding, only my 750TI would work.

12) Message boards : Number crunching : GTX 980 Resisting Memory Speed Setting with EVGA Precision (Message 1662420)
Posted 8 Apr 2015 by Profile GTP
I found I couldn't adjust the memory speed clocks with Precision X on a new 980. Then I stumbled on the fact that the setting will not stick if you have the GPU loaded. Exit SETI and wait a few seconds for the process's to stop and then try it. Then start SETI again.

Looks like a cheap cruncher, any thoughts?

Actually, just kidding. I just wanted to thank the "crew" behind the scenes that fixed the problem of no downloads earlier. Also statics pages are noticeably quicker. Careful now, we might come to EXPECT this in the future!

17) Message boards : Number crunching : GTX 970 lack of promised full 4.0GB RAM buzz (Message 1636780)
Posted 2 Feb 2015 by Profile GTP
Doesn't anyone have anything to add to this news? I imagine it effects SETI users in the fact that you don't ONLY crunch SETI with your GPU's? Right?

The brief story is only 3.5GB of the cards RAM has full speed. The other 512MB is pooled into half speed or less.

Wonder if this should affect users considering a 970 vs a 980? All I know is AMD is having a field day with this!

Has anyone used a PCI-E splitter for GPU crunching? Specifially something like:

Thanks for the comments guys. Any quick links to getting the 750Ti crunching 2 2WU's at a time?
