You are right on one point the old "legacy version" did run out of workunits ////but it was ALWAYS my choice to upgrade if I elected to continue. I decided to continue I upgraded my system....again my CHOICE....

As OzzFan already mentioned, you are obviously confusing BOINC and SETI@home.

I'm still running BOINC 5.10.45 on this host (my choice), but at the same time, I'm running SETI@home v7 with that BOINC (not my choice).

Perhaps your system shuts down because of overheating when BOINC applications (SETI@home) run.

You could try to provide better cooling or to throttle the processes (look for TThrottle at the BOINC add-on software page).

...although you're unable to do a rename of the cudart and cufft dll's in the project directory before the cuda22 or cuda23 app loads them, would it still be possible to do such a rename before it exits?

The application doesn't start (correctly) because of the wrong DLLs, so it can't do any renaming, neither on start nor on exit.

does this mean boinc manager?

You are confusing BOINC v7 and SETI@home v7!

There are replacements for the BOINC manager, but that's only the Graphical User Interface and has nothing to do with running the (optimised) applications.

Must I download a later version of BOINC to support SETI?

No, you must download a new version of SETI not of BOINC. And of course, you'll have to adjust your app_info.xml file accordingly.

Thanks Richard. Will boinccmd --quit also stop everything even if BOINC is running as a service?

Yes, I've tested it and I don't think that behaviour has changed since rev 5.10.45 ;-)
90) Questions and Answers : Getting started : Merge Accounts (Message 1378866)
Posted 9 Jun 2013 by Profile Gundolf Jahn
Post:
No, no chance for BOINC accounts. Only one BOINC account can be merged with a SETI@home classic account once.

If they were both created after 2005, you'll have to select one and stick with it. I'd take the one with the earliest creation date, but that's your choice.

I thought that the manager had at least a maximum time between requests if results are available to report or does it only do that if it decides to need more work?

Yes, that's 24 hours. So, you've only waited a third of the necessary time. ;-)

I have two machines that have remained on stock applications. Neither of these have exhibited the issues of constantly requesting more work but not getting any that you describe.

The problem is not that they aren't getting any work, but that they are sending scheduler requests to fetch work and not requesting tasks.

First, you can't get rid of a computer from S@H, they are all there, forever.

You can! As soon as the online task list of a computer is empty, you can delete it.

What you can't delete is a user account.

About every hour or so...

Does the system clock on that computer happen to run so fast/slow that you have set windows to synchronise with a time server every hour? That would explain the pattern.

This is also happening with every other Client I work for example

I suppose you are speaking of "project" when you say "client" ;-)
