You'll have to place it in the SETI@home project directory (D:\BOINC\projects\setiathome.berkeley.edu), like the app_info.xml file.

62) Questions and Answers : GPU applications : New version not running GPU?? (Message 1407074)
Posted 23 Aug 2013 by Profile Gundolf Jahn
Post:
the previous response involved using seti as a service?

If you would run BOINC in Protected Application Execution (service) mode, then your GPUs wouldn't be recognized.

and not having the OpenCL library installed.

From your online host list, you can see that OpenCL drivers are installed. (I can't tell if it's the right version.)

i am holding out hope that someone can advise me which of these i should alter and how to find the solutions implied.

Did you allow the use of ATI GPUs in your SETI@home preferences? Does your BOINC client even ask for GPU tasks?

I send him by e-mail my actual working file (direct from this host data directory) so he dont have to edit it our use notepad, just copy and paste so i imagine the name is now ok.

If it's copy&pasted, it still has to go through notepad, so it still could be named app_config.xml.txt or it could have been saved in UTF8 format (instead of ANSI), which adds hidden characters to the file and makes it unrecognisable as XML file.

At the registry level that changes Win32PrioritySeparation to decimal 28 or 011101. Technet.

28 is an even number and 011101 is not (last didit non-zero). If my memories of my octal era (Pr1mos) don't fail me, 011 101 (yes, I take groups of 3 :-) is 29 (24 + 5).

This is not a Boinc bug too, it´s a WIndows issue...

But if it works with BOINC v6 and not with BOINC v7, it is a BOINC issue (not necessarily a bug).

Basically you would uninstall boinc, move the data folder to desktop and then reinstall boinc. This will give you a clean data folder, but most likely also a new computer ID.

I wouldn't know why it would give a new hostID, unless you managed to destroy the client_state.xml file AND client_state_prev.xml file in the process. But other than that, you can easily move the data directory to anywhere and back and as long as it happens on the same hardware (same CPU, same GPU) and software (same operating system platform), you shouldn't have any trouble.

I've just moved my data directory from P: back to C: and I didn't get a new hostID. So why should he?

In a clean (newly created) data folder, there wouldn't be any client state file. ;-)

You should set
On multiprocessors, use at most 99% of the processors
Enforced by version 6.1+
and not
Use at most 80% of CPU time
Can be used to reduce CPU heat

If you want to use your online preferences, make sure that the local ones are disabled (Clear button), because otherwise they'll take precedence.

The second of these computers crunched SETI 24/7 for seven or eight years. When I attempted to recover those credits, I got a message saying my former email address was still an active account, even though I have not used that email for two years and no longer have access to it.

You don't need access to the email service, the only things needed are the email address and your SETI@home password from back then.

Posted 25 Jun 2013 by Profile Gundolf Jahn
Post:
What's wrong here?

You have an application name in your app_info.xml that isn't supported (any longer) and your app_info.xml misses the names for the currently active applications. ;-)

If your Tasks tab is empty, delete the app_info.xml file and reset the SETI@home project after a reboot.
