AVG 2013 virus scanner false positive on SETI@home 7 for Windows
(Message 1381150)
Posted 14 Jun 2013 by Ramon M. Castillo Post: Dear Eric, I wrote to you some days ago about getting an AVG Heuristic virus report on 7.00. I followed your instruction and set AVG to ignore the folder containing the Seti@Home file. Now I get nothing but computational errors on all the 7.00 tasks running on my system. I told Boinc to update Seti@Home yesterday. It downloaded many new tasks. Today all those tasks had terminated with "computation error." Could AVG and this problem be related? Thanks. Sincerely, Ramon |

task restarting

Posted 6 Mar 2008 by Ramon M. Castillo Post: I have experienced restartings without end on both seti and einstein. My three machines were finishing almost no work. I thank the people of this thread for suspecting that the cpu throttling may have been at fault. Now that I look back on it, the problems seemed to start at the time I started using cpu throttling. I have an dual X5472 machine that runs extremely hot I let all 8 cores run constantly. Now I let each core run at 100% but only let BOINC use 4 of the 8 cores. None of my systems are overclocked. Things are much improved. Both of my dual Xeon machines are actually finishing and uploading work again. Thanks to all of you. Ramon |
