How to attach to an additional project after already attached to Seti?
(Message 409110)
Posted 2456 days ago by TheOuthouseMouse
I don't have a TOOLS menu as I am using the Mac version. What should I do with this Mac version to attach to an additional project? Aha. I got it. Unfortunately, after years of using a PC, I am still learning how to navigate around a Mac. Thanks for the assistance. Justin L. |

screen saver on all the time
(Message 218629)
Posted 2706 days ago by TheOuthouseMouse
The screen saver seems to be disabling the power-saver functions I have set. For example, I have set the monitor to turn off after 15 minutes of inactivity, but when I am running SETI BIONIC, the screen never powers off. Does anyone know why this is? |

Windows :
BOINC locks up and "Doesn't Respond"
(Message 210398)
Posted 2715 days ago by TheOuthouseMouse
I just had a hard drive crash and during the re-installation process on the new hard drive, I will get as far as the BOINC Manager popping up on my screen (it'll say "Connecting to localhost in the lower right-hand corner"), but then it siezes up. It never asks me to input "http://setiathome.berkeley.edu" or anything. I have to kill the program. I've tried un-installing it and then re-installing several times but that doesn't seem to work -- the same thing happens each time. I've also thought that disabling Norton Anti-Virus might help, but it doesn't. The only thing I can think of is that when I reinstalled the OS, for some reason Windows decided to call my hard drive "E:" and not "C:". I tried setting up a virtual C: (using the subst command from the dos line) but that didn't seem to work. Does anyone have any clues as to what I should do? Please e-mail me at TheOuthouseMouse@outage.net. justin l. |

Boinc is terrible
(Message 123789)

That is your opinion, but in my opinion it is just fine and we are just having growing pains...... I have been running the Prime95 distributed computing program (see www.mersenne.org) and after I installed BOINC, it totally prevented Prime95 from running. Do you know of any way that I can run both program simultaneously without conflict? |
