(Message 1395769)
Posted 28 Jul 2013 by Gatekeeper Post: I'm not 100% sure its working.. Your rig is still showing the 680 as your only GPU. Did you follow the instructions Ulrich gave you? If so, did you stop, close, and then re-start BOINC after you created the file as mentioned? When working correctly, you'll see two GPU WU's running simultaneously. |

AFAIK, a Linux GPU app hasn't been developed yet for Seti V7, though it is/was being worked on. |

Invalid Tasks
(Message 1393366)
Posted 21 Jul 2013 by Gatekeeper Post: A good portion of your invalids, as well as quite a few of your pendings, for GPU work are showing as (-9) overflow errors. IIRC, one of the causes of these errors is GPU overheating. How are your temps on the GPU? |

Question about my first AP error.
(Message 1389076)
Posted 9 Jul 2013 by Gatekeeper Post: Hello Everyone, My first suspicion is that your driver is seriously old and most likely should be updated. Having said that, the run times for the WU are VERY long, even for an AP on an older card. It may be that the 8800 series is not up to the task of AP processing. But I'd update the driver and try another WU to see what happens. |

gt 430
(Message 1388413)
Posted 6 Jul 2013 by Gatekeeper Post: Is it possible to run more than one task at a time on this Nivida gt 430 (PCI)Cuda Gpu? If so how do I do that? Currently I run 2 tasks at once on this old machine. 1 on the cpu, and one on the Gpu I installed. Thanks for the help if there is one. You can certainly try to run 2X, but I wouldn't expect any positive performance gains as a result of doing so. Even the higher end cards in the 500 and 600 series are having to run 2 at a time, rather than the three at a time possible under MBv6. |

(Message 1387904)
Posted 5 Jul 2013 by Gatekeeper Post: Gundolf is quite right: you should update your Nvidia driver (from the NVidia site, not elsewhere) to something in the 300 series. I think 320.49 is current at this time, but I haven't checked in a few weeks. |

"Interesting" WUs?
(Message 1387864)
Posted 5 Jul 2013 by Gatekeeper Post: I hear people talking about "interesting units" - how do we find out if we've had any? Some say it's in your states, others say they email you (but I've never gotten either) w/ over 2 million WUs. If it makes you feel any better, NO ONE has ever been individually notified about anything "interesting", nor would I expect anyone would be. Any announcement would come through current and appropriate scientific publications, though rumor is the systems that identified the "find" would be credited in the publication. |

Unit prioritization
(Message 1386903)
Posted 2 Jul 2013 by Gatekeeper Post: Unless something has changed, BOINC always goes first in first out(FIFO) for work completion. In the unlikely event that your computer is likely to miss a deadline it will start working the shortest deadline first. IIRC, the logic that BOINC uses in "high priority" is really simple and more or less obvious: If BOINC thinks that a certain workunit or group of units won't finish by deadline, it'll run them in HP until the time calculations drop below "panic" level. It makes sense that such units would be the ones with the farthest out due dates, BOINC thinks they won't get done in time. |

EVGA GeForce GT 610 2GB DDR3 but missing CUDA - any help?
(Message 1385030)
Posted 27 Jun 2013 by Gatekeeper Post: Thanks for the heads-up. I understand this restriction, but I am not going to un/reinstall unless I can use the card. First I want to know it can be used, then if I can, I will do the necessary reconfigurations to use it. There is no obvious reason, as long as you have the proper Nvidia driver installed, that the card shouldn't work. It's not a terribly powerful card, but it should run one WU at a time faster than a comparable CPU unit. Of course, unless you un/reinstall BOINC after insuring a proper driver is in place, it's a sure thing that, under your present configuration, it WON'T work. |

Version Determination
(Message 1384387)
Posted 24 Jun 2013 by Gatekeeper Post: I've tried to determine which version of SAT that I'm running, but have been able to do so when looking at the "Properties" of the project. I'm running a Windows 7 Home Premium with 4 GB (soon to be 8GB) of memory and a 1TB hard drive. How do I find the version I'm running and if it is not Ver. 7, how do I download at http://setiathome.berkeley.edu? Both your rigs are running v7. One of them also has an AP v6 WU. You can see that by looking here and clicking on "tasks" for each rig. EDIT: Spitfire has faster fingers than I........ |

Observation of CreditNew Impact
(Message 1383499)
Posted 21 Jun 2013 by Gatekeeper Post: Curious, why don't you do AP work units? No doubt that we NV users have an easier go of it than ATI folks. I started running the opencl AP's with the new installer release, but stopped when I ran into errors that were apparently caused by BOINC forcibly terminating jobs prior to their normal EOJ exit. I don't know whether or not a fix for that issue has been accomplished. |

Posted 21 Jun 2013 by Gatekeeper Post: My computer is working on SETI and AstroPulse projects. First off: You're using the cal_ati apps for your GPU, and these have been deprecated by the project due to problems (like your 9 errors). See this post and note that a fix might not be coming anytime soon. The CPU units should continue to run normally. |
