NEZ - The truth behind the credits... finally revealed.
(Message 951517)
Posted 1 Dec 2009 by paul Post: More comments from that newspaper story- http://www.azcentral.com/news/articles/2009/11/30/20091130searchforaliens1202.html#comments It is true that Brad was replaced by one of Birdwell's "family members". After nine years working for the district, his salary and title were cut, so that Birdwell could put into place her loyalists. and this one- Mr. Niesluchowski had permission from previous Superintendents to have the equipment at his home. It was there so he could work from home since HUSD was understaffed and he needed to put in very long hours. The police found NO EVIDENCE of any wrongdoing on the part of Mr. Niesluchowski. Somehow the reporter failed to mention that in the article and painted him as a thief. and yet another comment- This newspaper is reporting LIES. Do they even do any fact checking? I will point out the lies as a former Higley IT Staff member that left right before Brad. Now believe what you will, but there is the other side of the published story. |

NEZ - The truth behind the credits... finally revealed.
(Message 951513)
Posted 1 Dec 2009 by paul Post: If I have this right, these comments are from the original story that ran in an Arizona paper- http://www.azcentral.com/news/articles/2009/11/30/20091130searchforaliens1202.html#comments. I see some comments on that article that seems to be from people who worked with Nez, notably this comment- He was the director of Internet Technology until Dr. Birdwell promoted a family member of hers into that position. What I love most about this is that they neglected to mention that the previous superintendent KNEW and APPROVED him utilizing district computers in his home since he worked from home. In addition, they not only removed the districts computers from his home, but his families personal ones as well. Let's not forget that the district FORCED him to take a 3 week vacation this summer when he was in the middle of a huge project of getting the new school into our district ready for opening. Then they toook that project from him and gave it to another who FAILED to do it and blamed him. In a nutshell, it may be that the new school super trumped up charges against Nez to bring in a family member to take over the school districts IT dept. And I suspect that you won't hear anything from Nez because of pending lawsuits..[/url] |

182.06 nVidia driver released
(Message 869753)
Posted 26 Feb 2009 by paul Post: nVidia has the new 182.06 drivers available for download now. Tried 182.05 on XP64, Boinc 6.6.10, GTX260, Raistmer's V7 apps for gpu seti only, wu's were showing 2:45:00 to completion, EVGA's Precision 1.40 failed to see a supported device. Installed 182.06, same problems. Uninstalled, installed 181.22, wu's are down in the couple minute range and Precision is happy. Using RDP to monitor the box. |

Calling all Team Captains
(Message 572384)
Posted 20 May 2007 by paul Post: /snip James, you're not helping your cause out much with a post like that. ;-) While Xaak's tone may be a bit on the harsh side, his message is clear. Why on earth would the project introduce a new version of the server code in the middle of the The Biggest SETI Outage Ever (TBSOE) is beyond me. I've known Xaak for many years now, and we both are quite passionate in our DC hobby, having spent several 10's of thousands of dollars between us on hardware and electricity in the past few years alone. For us to expect that common practices in the IT business be adhered to is fair to me. |

Calling all Team Captains
(Message 572367)
Posted 20 May 2007 by paul Post: Thanks, Xaak, for echoing our thoughts, from TSWB. Since we are a new team comprised of long time DC folk, most all of run optimized apps. This has affected most of our team. Hopefully tomorrow, the Seti staff can sit down and see what can be done with fixing the BOINC Server code's 5.09 anonymous platform breakage. Paul |

Eric's biannual post #6: You can tuna fish, but you can't tune a TCP
(Message 570792)
Posted 19 May 2007 by paul Post: We've been getting together in our IRC channel, with half dozen long term Seti guys running optimized apps. We've been playing with renaming the app_info file, restarting Manager, etc., and verify it will clear up our problems as has been reported. But, the weird thing is, we are still running Chicken's optimized client, without an app_info being loaded (verified at start of Manager, in messages), and shows in Task Manager as Chicken's app is the client being run. Our understanding is that the app_info file tells manager to run anonymous platform clients? So what gives? Not that we're complaining, Seti is working, and we're running optimized clients.... |

(Message 568211)
Posted 16 May 2007 by paul Post: Boincers massing at the southern wall, sir. ;-) I've suspended Seti since the outage occurred, the fleet picked up on backup projects, at least until the logjam breaks. Our Team certainly ensured that backups projects were added, and gave everyone a quick lesson on how to ensure that they don't run out of work. I suspect many other BOINC projects benefited from increased resources the past week or two. Kudos for your team getting the project back online, the efforts are appreciated. |

Nothing more * edit * Ahh, thanks. I've been around long enough to know that the people you refer to, the ones who cry foul, are typically the ones who do much of the same or worse in their own endeavors, and are panicking that they are losing a perceived edge. BTW, where can we find your channel? ;-) |

Nothing more * edit * Could you expound on that? Sure, we have a team, and the channel is associated with it. It's a irc chat, it's some pretty good times seeing new people, no matter their affiliation with any team. We have regulars from several other teams stop by and visit. Sure, if you're unattached, we'll make a pitch, but what we're looking for is visitors talking about their favorite hobby! |

For those without and IRC client we have a handy Java chat available. Agreed. I've idled in the channel for close to 6 years now with Kinguni, keltoi, and quite a few others. Nothing like having some DC enthusiasts all together in real time, talking about anything and everything. Especially nice when we have visitors! |
