I would thing there is a fixed budget for Tesla Driver support and if they don't use it they lose it, so I think work is being done using some sort of priority system. If it is like any other company, sometimes it is a struggle to find a task and charge number to work to.

this file gets over 40MB!!! isn't it just a log of work units, why does boinc let it get so large? i know i can delete it because i have, just would like to limit the size so i don't have to delete...

I have been checking my AP work that finally got validated today because somebody finally returned their work. It's easy to see who has been hoarding work as ALL AP work should have been returned by now from a 200 work unit limit. Any outstanding AP work has been hoarded by using various techniques discussed here. Some 56K AP work still out in the field as of now....

i blame the 56k on the slow suns of a female dog! any computer in the top 500 rigs should be excluded from the limits as they stand.

no rescheduler, just re program boinc to be gpu/cpu neutral and fix the credit system so that a cpu don't get ripped off when matched to a gpu.

while your at it, remove the percent for "on muliprocessor systems, use at most xx% of the processors" and let me specify the number of cores i want free. some systems have 64 processors and some have 2, if i put in my preferences 50 percent to have one core free on the two cpu rig, that don't work to well on the 64 core rig.

i like the days of seti classic and that setispy (or what ever it was called) that would setup a server and cache your work units and distribute to all your clients.

if i'm running AP on GPU and attempting to run AP on CPU i can't fill up my CPU as two cores remain idle. my system is set to use a full CPU core per AP GPU work unit. so on a three GTX 680 rig i can only run six AP work units, six on my gpu and none on my CPU. if i have MB work for my CPU then it will run two work units on the remaining cores, but will not run available AP work for the CPU. on a two GTX 480 rig, i run four GPU AP work units and two AP CPU work units, and if available two CPU MB work units.

what is the best way to block cpu work?

jason, i'm not say most efficiently, just download the work let the client assign to gpu or cpu. like you could do with boinc reschedule...

Since there are gpu apps for everything, why does bonic request work for cpu and gpu individually amymor? let the client distribute the work as needed.

I have a old rig with four logical cpu's and two gpu's, when crunching astropulse no cpu work is done because each AP work unit needs a whole CPU thread. I end up having to abort cpu work to keep the gpu's working, the cpu work eventually starts to go critical and the gpu's will sit idle.

It sure won't affect us in the long term.

Lots and lots of government folks can't afford to have us figure-out that we really don't need them.

I've lived through a lot of these. My advice is not to hold your breath waiting to find-out what difference it made. In the end, it makes none.
