21) Message boards : Number crunching : Just some early observations on V7 CUDA work. (Message 1377657)

Please remember that additional processing/searches were added to the WU's for V7 so we expected slowdowns. Perhaps in the future we'll get more optimization dealing with the new searches.

Big O coughs in public and we have congressional hearing in ever facet to see if hes a Muslim or even born here. Yeah only communists are hypocrites

It was December 1983 and we were on a bivouac for some training in Ft McClellan Alabama. We were given C-rats produced in september of 1968. It was surprising how well the pork meals held up after all that time. The next field duty saw us getting the new MRE which were something to behold. Freeze dried meat that never reconsitituted, RETCH!

220 marines die in Beruit. THe presidential response? back out of Beruit. COngressional investigation into the events and calls for resignations? none. Seems Conservatives, to maintain any relevance, must create controversy and fear where there is none. Smoke and mirrors nothing more. When you have no policy when you have no policy or governmental plans you plant fear and controversy over the least possible problem.

Should we look at the complete lack of leadership or ability to lead or believe there is something where there is nothing. I think that we should be more concerned that one party is leading the other is just against. Against everything that means leading or making a difference in the world. What happens when people get into positions of power yet do not desire to lead? you get Republican congresses that repeatedly 40+ times attempting to repeal the HCA plan instead of actually working on balancing the budget.
27) Message boards : Number crunching : AMD GPU & CPU together working on SETI (Message 1371579)
Posted 25 days ago by Profile skildude
for the AMD CPU/GPU you can run the lunatics apps but you'd be doing a manual install and creating an app info pretty much on your own. If you get that installed you should only run 6 of your 8 cores. I would also run the AMD 12.8 drivers.

You should also be able to run at least 2 WU's per GPU and maybe even 3

29) Questions and Answers : GPU applications : Open browser affects (lowers) daily credits (Message 1370047)
Posted 29 days ago by Profile skildude
if you are on a website your browser is actively receiving and sending info to that site. Much of that info is ads from the sites you have open. Even though the this doesn't actually use much network time it does use a bit of CPU and GPU to process and update website/ad content.

IIRC one of our users actually found that just having the BOINC manager open on your desktop slows the processes down by a percent or so over time.

are you running stock apps? it shows that you have opencl for nvidia and cuda failing. no results. I'm wondering if you have an app_info with both apps mentioned in it.

milkyway wont work either... most projects will reject the card if it isn't able to do double precision.
33) Message boards : Number crunching : Unexpected downloads (Message 1368528)

I thought that the open Cl apps for intel were downloaded from Seti.

Back when I built my I7 3770 And went online I had not insatlled my 550 Ti yet and was jusr running stock 7.0.28.

Back when I finaly insatlled my 550 Ti GPU (Late Feb I think) I was still running stock 7.0.28. But then I had files that appeared in tranfers that said open cl. They downlaoded and I was running Astropulse on my GPU.

But what im getting from reading the boards you have to download The ap and configure your ap info file. I never did that.

So how did I get to run open cl on my GPU? Or am I just missing something?

You probably received the stock GPU apps which are openCL for astropulse IIRC.

the Intel openCL doesn't have any apps at seti so you wouldn't see any downloads for it.

Posted 33 days ago by Profile skildude
If you run the optimized apps on the CPU (FYI use the SSE3 app), you'll need to have one for the GPU if you intend on using it as well. This means making an app_info from scratch or using the lunatics updater 0.40 if you have it.

I don't think you GPU is capable of running the app. You'd need to run the hybrid app from Lunatics.

IIRC it has something to do with your memory bandwidth.
