I spent too much time partying on Cinco de Mayo that I completely forgot my own anniversary!

Congrats to everyone who contributes to SETI and any other volunteering project.
2) Message boards : Number crunching : GBT ('guppi') .vlar tasks will be send to GPUs, what you think about this? (Message 1787068)
Posted 12 May 2016 by Profile johnnymc
My GTX 960 is handling:
one non gbt at 56% gpu usage 20-25 minutes crunch time
two non gbt at 78% gpu usage pretty close to the same time each
thr non gbt at 99% gpu usage but seems to take them 90 minutes each.

Once the GBT vlars came in I had to crunch one work unit at a time.

Two of these running concurrent took about an hour ten minutes each
with gpu pegged at 99%.

One at a time takes 25-35 minutes each with gpu usage 97-98%.
3) Questions and Answers : GPU applications : GTX960 getting cuda42 not 50 now. (Message 1780255)

Greetings SETI Community,

Fixed an issue with Windows 10 and after reinstall from backups I've noticed my Seti gpu projects are crunching cuda42 from cuda50.

Any ideas? Cheers

Sadly I had to abort 8 AP tasks - rejoice those who picked em up - due to the 5 yr old laptop cpu fan screaming a painful death.

RIP Y560, you crunched a lot of data in your lifetime.

Back in June last year I picked up an MSI GTX960 for a $160 bargain (6 hr sale) and it's worked like a champ. Everyone had told me to get the 970 as it had much more bang for a little more buck - compared to a full 980 but I gave the little one a shot. It is a great card as far as I am concerned.

PS-My only issue with this new box I build using an old i7-2600 is that I think my 430W PS should have been a 650W just for safely. My calculations told me I wouldn't pull over 370W. So far so good.

Approaching the quarter million mark for SETI.

Not too shabby for using one crappy laptop at a time.

Wow has it been 12 years already?

Imagine how far away from Earth a spacecraft would be now if it were travelling at the speed of light...

Congratulations to everyone who has participated in this project with special kudos to the 12 year veterans! ;)

100k for Seti at last. Now I can clam it up until 250k. Rejoyce!

ps - working on a dual 6 core desktop similar to the one i saw with 8 nvidia cards...i wonder if 8 cores will ever be feasible.

Just broke 75k couple days ago. I have already started crunching at 50% due to the warm weather. I don't have any air conditioning so I must save my machine some undue stress for the next 5 months.

Congrats to everyone with their massive amounts of work done! I saw a machine with dual hex cores in it with 8 gpu cards. Now that is a true workhorse! This puny laptop doesn't do much but it's still helping listen to the stars...

Approaching 50k after a long hiatus. I'm back in the saddle!

One thing I miss is seeing the graphics. Alas the only downfall to using the 64-bit Windows 7.
