G'day Eric,
Instead of the US, why not lobby the Aussie Government. We're still spend bucket loads of money on astronomy, even after some cutbacks. CSIRO just built a massive antenna for the Chinese super-version of Arecibo too.
I don't know of any site they've shut down either. It might be time they got one in Puerto Rico.

If nothing else, it may shame the US Government into picking up its game. ;-)

By any measure Aussie Assault 9 (AA9) on QMC has been a fantastic success!!

Even though AA9 is officially over, the team has just passed 10 million credits in QMC, the last 5 million all in the last 18 days. That is an enormous amount of science crunched.

The team's daily output should have started winding down to about double its pre-AA levels, about 50,000 a day, but we are still seeing around 250,000 a day. Not to bad for QMC.

It should start to drop in the next week or so but the project has caught the interest of many BOINC@AUSTRALIA members. That's another great side affect of the AA's.

The next event starts on 1 December 2007.

John and Misfit,
I wasn't complaining, just lamenting the passing of an era. I didn't really start this thread for myself, so much as for all those people who, like me, spend a lot of time trying to recruit new team members.

Perspective members see us as pests buzzing around all the time, other teams see us as parasites and our own teams don't thing we do enough ;-D

So this should have been a place for us like types to come and make up success stories to make us feel good, like the one in QMC was.

Cheers ;)

After 160 posts and 4366 views the "Team Recruitment Officers Café" thread has been destickied (should that be unstickied?? Good English never bin import in computer so not matter). Is this the end of my favourite SETI thread?!

Probably, still it lasted a long time. ;D Best one I ever started in SETI.

What a great ride that last AA was!!! Many of us are still crunching away at Einstein, producing around 200,000 credits of science for the project.

Einstein is now our number one project, I didn't think anything could overtake SETI but AA6 had an amazing effect on Einstein.

Can't wait until the the 1st of June when AA7 starts.

Don't forget, you can join before than too. ;)

I think there are a number of members still crunching, our daily output hasn't dropped that much. I'd have expected some drop by now if it were only the pending results adding to our total.

Maybe we have swelled our active ranks again. :-D

It was a wild rush while it was on. The BOINC@AUSTRALIA team crunched so many work units we were getting a million credits about every five days.

Last week our total SETI output was 58% of our total and it's already dropping now the AA is winding down, yesterdays SETI output was only 49% of our total output. I think a lot of that would have been the conversion of pending results.

Yesterday, I got my best output in a long time because of pending results coming through, that and the actual output. Might last a few more days, then it's back to normal.

Hope everyone in the team had as much fun as I did and is looking forward to the next "Aussie Assault", AA5.

That's the end of

Just remember,

Damn, I've had that error or one very much like it and I don't use the screensaver. Hell, I don't even use the graphics.

It only occoured five or so times and then stopped. I put it down to some stuffed up work units.

Got a copy of Solaris 10 x86 on the front cover of APC a while back. Sounds like a good time to install it and learn a little about a robust enterprise version of Unix. Either that, or Linux. ;-)
