HI,
I just saw your Challenge so I donated $100 to catch up with you guys.
Alan Bradford
SETI@ Home since May 1999

Hi Alan, thanks for taking the time to register on the boards to tell us about your donation!

I have a feeling there are an awful lot of people out there just like Alan who have been with SETI@home for a long time, but never frequented the boards. I hope any of those people that see this take Alan's lead and make a donation/post here about it, even if it's their only post on these boards.

Woohoo!

Dear Friend of Cal,

Thank you for your gift of $25 for: SETI@home.

Your confirmation number is: 38821

Byron, you amaze me......I'm glad that there are some people who are able to donate some significant amounts to SETI@home, and are WILLING to do so with such little hesitation.

I hope one day I can afford to be as generous as you :P Thanks again not just from me but I'm sure from all of us!

I'm a little confused....but that's probably just because I'm not as actively involved in these message boards as many people here. BUT, I have been a member for a long time so I'd like to ask a favour.

Can anybody paraphrase what's actually happening here (as in explain to to someone who doesn't quite understand WHAT information has been leaked, and WHY this is such a major deal)?

Many thanks to anyone who can 'dumb it down' for me!

Well, I've (we've) got three.

Curie, Gamer and Brucelee. Curie's a moody daddy's girl, Gamer's a head-butting runt, and Brucelee is....well....he's the stoner of the group. Always laid back, friendly and occasionally, in the presence of red laser pointers, paranoid.

Just a word of advice to anyone crunching the "old" way.....I finally decided to take a look at the optimized apps (look at the sticky on top of this category....optimized apps read only something something).

My crunching times are WAY lower now. I'm actually pretty upset I hadn't done this a long time ago....I'd say I'm crunching at 200% speed of what I was before.

Take a look. It was real easy for me and now both me and SETI@home are reaping the benefits.

*offtopic* nice to see another canadian around =o) im kickin around Ontario har har har =p

I noticed in the "Help Wanted" section, S@H is asking for help in creating a PS3 version of SETI@home.

Does anybody know if there are serious plans to do this? I think it would be incredible, but it seems to me that it wouldn't be that easy to do, or to get Sony to allow. I'm pretty sure there would have been some financial incentive for Sony involved in the Folding@home thing.....

So you must be buried in snow then......crazy winter for both us and you. But yours is far worse of course!

I figure there should be a team specifically for those who have financially contributed to SETI@home. I'm hoping this will bring attention to the funding issue as we rise up in the ranks and show that we care about the future of SETI@home!!!

If you don't have a team, or can be persuaded that this will benefit SETI@home in the long run, come join! Of course, if you haven't donated in the past year, send in your 4 or 5 Starbucks worth of cash to SETI@home and THEN join us!
