You probably have 'Billie's Firewall Issue'.

Last MS uptdate tinkered at the XP firewall, reactivated it and made it block the boinc processes again.
Make sure that boinc.exe and boincmgr.exe are no more blocked by any firewall.

Like I said, I am not running any firewalls, Windows firewall included.

Maybe thats your problem, you are not running any firewall.

Hai Guys,

I have done something stupide a few ours ago, I accidentlyremoved the seti project from my BOINC manager, at that moment there were still 13 WU's to be crunched and one was almost finished, after this stupid action I have put back a 5 ours old backup and the project was online and working but it started with a new PC id and new WU's, till sofar its oke but when I take alook in my account/results there are still the 14 WU's that are not in my BOINC manager anymore and so they will not be crunched, what can or what must i do to make it all right so nobody will have problems because of my stupid act

There isn't much you need to do (or can do).
BOINC will realize when the deadline comes up that you're not going to return these and (if it hasn't already had three valid results back by then) will send another copy out to someone. No one except yourself will lose any credit.

You may find that your daily WU quota (normally 100) takes a dive for a few hours when BOINC finds that you've lost the work, but it will jump back to 100 very quickly as you return some other good results.

Oke Mike

Thanks very much for your reply so soon, I'll be quit happy with the answer because nobody will lose something.

One thing to remember, Berkeley is the leading edge of this. They are the founders of Boinc, and other projects are following in the footsteps by creating programs to work in Boinc. Boinc itself works well. I have been crunching Predictor, Einstein and Climate, along with Seti. The outages on all 4 of the projects never bothered any of my machines, cause they all do not happen at the same time, so my machines keep busy.

Seti is trying to make it bigger and better, so their side will be a little more flawed until they get it to a state they are happy with. Once that is accomplished, the other projects will probably update to a simular state. The other projects are in a known working state.

So, please do not dis Boinc, it works, and it works well. Seti is working on their side, and it will be better than ever, once they get all the pieces into place.

Again Pooh Bear 27, you are a good spokesman, I'm fully agreed with the words you wrote here, good not say it better.

Hello Fellow crunchers,

A few minutes ago I had a few problems with my PC, I have to update my BIOS because of that and when I restarted the system it was starting up with a date in 2001, I have changed it in the proper today setting and ev'rything is working fine, accept the delivery date from the files who are waiting to be crunched, the date was xx August 2005 and now the date has reset to 31-12-1901, wat can I do about it, leave it that way or ?????, hope that I can get some advise on this one.

There is actually a note on the main page that states there is a problem, that they knew Friday, and they are working on fixing it. The uploads are mostly the problem. Uploads happen, but the packets are getting dropped, and they are currently unsure why. The notices was done late Friday, and with a weekend it will take them time to fix.

Hope you do not leave. Seti is awesome. Some of us are glad to be here, even with the problems that have happened. I am happily crunching Seti data, and have several to send back, when it becomes fixed.

Now remember, when it does get fixed, the systems will be bogged down with everyone finally trying to get their data in, so it could still take a couple days to finally clean up.

It was a warm Sunday here, maybe a little heat got under the collar, and just made a little rage fly? I hope that's all it was.

Keep smiling. It makes your enemies wonder what you are thinking!

Hoi Pohh Bear,

You say the words and I'm fully agree with it, hope that more people will read it and indeed will keep smiling, after all, it was very warm last sunday. Keep on crunching and the upload problem will be solved anyhow.

whiners...all whiners!!! There will be many more days of rough going ahead. The Classic project is in it's final days. The transition is putting enormous strain on the servers at Berkeley. Patience is indeed a virtue. Those who think this is bad should have been around when the Classic app was brand new.

They are much more than whiners, theyt find it much more easy to stay by the old situation instead of taking advantage from the new one, I'll think its much more better but when you start with it its maybe difficult because of the unknown with the new software and there is the problem, its to much ask to read and then to known how to do and how to start, my opinion, make a fresh start with boinc because its work just fine.

Hoi Guillermo

I have the same situation on my PC's as you have, one with XPProf and one with XPHome and on my both machines its working perfect as a service, maybe you must create an account with administrative rights with a password and than install it as a service, I am sure that it will work than.

Succes with it.

Hoi NavyBuff,

I am using the backup program wich is in WXPpro and also in WXPHome only then you have to install it first, and when I make a backup from al drives, I am using Ghost, in both cases boinc can stay active with no problems at all, I on't know what backup program you use, maybe the WXP backup is an option for you.
