Hey all.

My laptop has a 1600M Quadro FX with 512 mb of memory.
nVidia site shows this to be a CUDA enabled device.
UPdated boinc to latest 6.6.3.
Updated nVidia drivers to latest for this machine.
Still getting a No CUDA devices found.
:(
Anything else that would hold it back?

I used to could find this out (for other folks) on the stats site but can't seem to find it for a single project.

Anyway... should roll that seti-odometer soon.

I have always ran seti on my laptops since day 1. 100% unless on battery.
I just keep the lid open to keep it cooler.
Not recommended if you want to use it ON your "lap" b/c it will get toasty.
:)

I personally think it's a perfect way to describe infinity... We call this an infinite loop in computer programming.

Rather you let x represent 1 or 37 it will ALWAYS be one more than what you let x represent... All you really have to do to understand this infinite loop is let x represent any number and start counting by 1 from there... I use to do it in grade school with my calculator.. 1 [+] 1 = 2 [+] 1 = 3 [+] 1 = 4 ...

Except it needs the loop in there... a repeat.. or a goto.. :)

Never mind... Noticed one other box was uploading fine so rebooted this one and all is uploading.
Strange that stopping and restarting the service did not fix it. Course it could be something in windoze ... anyway...

Happy Turkey day!!

Guess that is what this is about::
11/21/2007 9:34:41 PM|SETI@home|[file_xfer] Temporarily failed upload of 20fe07ad.4892.482.16.6.248_0_0: system connect

I have a queue full of those so no crunching being done. :/

Post:
Fair point - I guess I'd like at the client level for it to be settable for each project.

And yes, definitely, I'd love to not see an 'evercrunch special black hole work unit' ever again. One effect for me is that on less closely watched workstations, I will tend to not include SETI in their set.

Then you'd potentially have issues with very long crunching projects like CPDN that don't get much beyond 0% for a long time.

Probably the best solution is to make sure the project doesn't generate "evercrunch specials" in the first place....

Yeap had one of those too. Ate one processor for 6hrs. ugg!

From some of the results I have seen on the OCing forums, water cooling is mostly a way of making a rig LOOK faster. IMHO, you can do within 1 or 2 c of water cooling with a proper application of air cooling. And with a lot less grief.
Mind the IMHO, I have never tried water cooling myself, just HD air and phase.

I think I would use water cooling for another reason... to move the heat some where else not in the same room. :)
You could do the same with freon i suppose.
:D

flush the page file [ Oh... this is the pool]

Good idea... you might can also do that by changing the size of it.

Back on topic...
I have never had dry ice last that long esp when put in a liquid.
You might also try segregating the power supply from the CPU air.
that way your not wasting what ever cooling effect your having on the power supply.

Liquid cooling ... that is a thought though...
what if you combined your experiment.
Basically replaced the water in a water cooler with the alcohol / dry ice combo.

I saw the water kits at comp-usa the other day does not seem like they were that much... but was shopping for cases not thermal transfer kits. :)
