I took a look at my prime machine for SETI (the other one crashed a month ago and I haven't had time to troubleshoot the box) and almost all of the jobs lined up are AP. I've never seen that before. Cool.

I passed 13 years a while back. Pushing 21,000,000 on SETI and 43,000,000 on PrimeGrid. I need some faster machines.

Passed 12 years last month. Thank (or blame?) Art Bell's web site for pointing me to SETI@Home. Ran the classic until the day it shut down. Picked up on BOINC a while later. Running a split of SETI and PrimeGrid these days. Started PrimeGrid last year when SETI had the major meltdown and I ran out of WUs. Let's find those LGMs! :-)

Difference? I started SETI years ago, Primegrid 7 months ago. PrimeGrid is far more liberal in credits. Something wrong here...

So what in your view is wrong? Does SETI need to give more credits or does PrimeGrid need to give less credits?

It doesn't really matter to me, but it seems strange. That's all.

Now to fix my signature line. When did I get linked to someone elses results? Edit - fixed. Don't know how that happened, but it's fixed.

Interesting how different projects reward crunching differently. One of my machines is a Q6700 with a video card. On the Q6700 its running 50% SETI / 50% Primegrid and 100% Primegrid on the video card (CUDA). RAC for SETI is about 2244 and RAC for Primegrid is about 66,646. This machine had a RAC around 8000 when it was 100% SETI. All projects are not created equally.

seti classic used to be down for weeks at a time then run a week or two then go off again for another couple of weeks...

the reason some of us aren't so up in arms about this is:

It's the way it has been since the beginning!
This isn't a life or death situation.
People will not die because Seti is down.

Amen. If it's up, it's up. If it's down, oh well...

Machines are set to download SETI WUs as available. So much PrimeGrid work going on that I probably won't notice for a while. RAC will certainly drop as PrimeGrid is still climbing and insanely higher than SETI ever was.

I still have WUs on one machine, but their deadlines are coming up, so they'll probably start running soon. PrimGrid is keeping the crunchers warm for now (with a potential RAC of about 70,000, where SETI runs just over 20,000). If I were just in this for credit...

Based on the latest Technical news, 12/7/2010 is the earliest.

I wonder what my RAC on PrimeGrid will look like by then? It's already much higher than I've ever seen on SETI. :-)

Still have some SETI WUs lying in wait, but with due dates in December they aren't getting priority. PrimeGrid is hogging all my CPU time until the servers are up and running. And PrimeGrid CUDA jobs are lucrative in their credit.

It will be good to see the new servers and what they can do.

I just have my machines set to 50% SETI and 50% Rosetta. When SETI comes back, I'll change that. In the meantime, finish the SETI WUs that actually downloaded and don't worry. This isn't a life and death situation.

Spike? More like a solar flare. Really going to have an impact on standings for BOINC as a whole for folks who (like me) only crunch SETI. Not that it really matters in the overall scheme of things, but... :-)
