I've found that while Speedfan works in many instances, there are times where is doesn't. For example, it works great on my Intel DG33FB motherboards, but not on the very similar DG35EC boards. It also doesn't work on my Dell laptops, or on my Supermicro motherboard based system. So, for whatever reason it seems somewhat hit or miss. By work, I mean the ability to control anything. It seemed to install properly on all the systems, but when it is executed, it just shows temps and such, but no ability to control anything. Not knocking it, at all, and when it works I love it, because it is a better option than the limited or worse options that come with most system boards.

That just about reflects my experience with Speedfan. Much rather rely on something that has a physical electrical connection, even if it is a fan speed controller with thermistors stuck with thermal adhesive to things like the heatsinks.

I think you'd enjoy GRID+ (from NZXT).

Sounds like you didnt properly configure SpeedFan, I've used it on all my builds. It's not one of those install and it magically works programs. LOL

SpeedFan has the ability to control fan speeds off GPU or CPU temps, depending how the fans are physically are connected, not all fan headers on all motherboards are controllable via SpeedFan.

I found that GRID+(NZXT product) is a very nice [external/internal] fan hub and controller. It's control software is pretty incredible too since every fan/fan hub you attach means you can manually set which temperature sensor source, CPU or GPU, for each fan. You can create individual fan profiles for each fan. I use one for a couple extra case fans not on the main fan hub.

[my current case]
Phanteks Enthoo Primo

Normally for this case all case fans are connected to the fanhub, I went one further by connecting the 4 radiator fans to the fanhub too. The fan hub has a total of 9 fans connected. Doing that allows me to use SpeedFan to control (on automatic option) all the fans using just 1 function under Config>Fan control.

If I may so bold as to say, do not salvage any parts from mork at this time but seek volunteer(s) like a student looking for experience, to test mork thoroughly. The past discussion about bad memory and not having time to run a full battery of memtests (week+??), or even have the power supplies load tested properly. The last thing that needs doing in swapping bad parts (untested?) for suspected bad parts...

yes my cpu overclock is mild, stock is 2.7ghz current is 2.97ghz that has been that way for a while now, I have been trying to run AP optimized apps. My impression is that they have issues that need fixing still since the results posted for the work unit differ from the results of stock app as per the OP. There is nowhere in the results that tell me there is an error for that work unit. If there is point it out for me. I don't have an problems with the MB opt apps that i can see.

The directory with all the AP 5.03 files is:

Index of /sah/download_fanout

and the direct links are:

astropulse_5.03_windows_intelx86.exe

ap_graphics_5.03_windows_intelx86.exe

libfftw3f-3-1-1a_upx.dll

The bit of the app_info for v5 AP is:

<app>
<name>astropulse_v5</name>
</app>
<file_info>
<name>astropulse_5.03_windows_intelx86.exe</name>
<executable/>
</file_info>

</file_info>
<app_version>

<file_ref>
<file_name>ap_graphics_5.03_windows_intelx86.exe</file_name>
<open_name>graphics_app</open_name>
</file_ref>
</app_version>

You'll need to overwrite your section for astropulse, or add it as an addition,
I'm got entries for v5 AP as well as the last version, so i still get resends.

Claggy

Compliments to Richard for correcting my mistakes in the app_info earlier

Edit: changed the link to AP Graphics

simply put, why can't someone take work unit "a" from machine "a" and put into into machine "b" and have machine "b" crunch that work unit and report it....

networked?
