Post: Hi Mike, Phil, Sorry for the late responce. @Mike: I added -hp and -sb 256 and that seems to work. I didn't add -no_cpu_lock (yet). But won't it make more sense to add this option "as a standard feature"? @Phil: Going back to an older driver .. If i encounter this problem again I will do that. I use this Pc no only for crunching. After downloading new tasks, Boinc will give a predicted run time. I have two different ones for the GPU. (both v7) one with a run time of about 9 minutes and 1 with a runtime of about 20 minutes. It occured with the ones with a runtime of about 20 minutes. Thanks to you both! |

Post: Yes. That was the first thing that i thought about and you mentioned it once before. It even happens with more than enough cores free (50 % used or just 1 core in use(=75% cores free) The options for the app are new for me, so i will try thanks |

Post: Hi, It's bin a while since i ran seti. I started some things up again and installed the optimised apps from lunatis (0.34b). I ran this for a few weeks and now i hit some problems. Maybe someone has encounterd the same? (Tried to search for "ati driver not responing", but didn't find anything.) And that's what happens with some tasks (seti@home v7) that run on my ATI 5870. The task begins and at some point it stops and the catalyst driver pops up from the systemtray showing that message. Result is a task that stopped blocking the other ati tasks in setiathome que. I have to suspend and restart setiahome to restart. The task will continue for a little while resulting in the same state of the driver. after i cancel that task the next will start crunching and ends without error. So it's not every task that locks up the driver. Is this a known issue for the app in the lunatics .43b installer? Or could it still be my ati card/driver. Or do i have to tweak the configfile? Newest catalyst installed v15.7.2. Thanks |

Post: Hi Juan BFB, i thought the catalyst driver/management software(for my hd5870 oc ed) did a good job managing the fan speed .. i did set it at nearly max speed now, with default clock. |

Post: Hi Mike, yep. Raistmer also gave me that tip in the past. cpu is now runnen on 50% (4 threads) if i cranck it up, it's to max 75% so one core(2 threads) is completely free. isn't there some sort of debugging mode, or debugging log? where to look if one wu is stuck. |

Post: yes card is downclocked to produce less heat. But it happens also with "default settings". For the moment it is crunching, like the one from betreger. |

Post: I was using the optimized apps from the lunatics 0.41 installar. Yesterday i noticed that a wu for the GPU was stuck. After restarting it ran for a few seconds and a message showed that the graphics driver was not responding an was restored. (or some sort of message) I deinstalled the lunatics apps and ran seti with the stock apps from yesterday till now. One of the wu on the gpu had ran for 4 hours and was stuck. restarted the PC and boinc and waited. After a few second the message about the gfx driver showed again. pls someone. Is this a "thing" that has to do with the wu's itself? Or someone has the same experiance? the gfx card is showing no defects and i don't have the idea that every wu results in the same "error" ..... |

Post: Hi Claggy! That are answeres that are usable!.. okay.. I thing you mean the "use max xx% from the processor." (don't know what it sais in eng.. I have a dutch interface). But wil it help to lower the "use max xx% CPU time" Or do I realy have to say to use just 7 "cores" from the CPU. Thanks! |

Post: True. But read what happens is in the post.. Will try to explain in other words. The first task running after starting BOING is going "okay". Then the "second" task is running and it's like it's running on just the CPU. To complete the second "in a short". I have to stop boinc and start it aging. Then the task is running, till it's done. Then the next task again is running very slowly. Again It's like it's only running on the CPU at that moment. I have no complaints!! Only questions. ;) I only expect activity on the GPU? According to the catalyst driver there is none or very little. With the old old catalyst 11.3(x64) and (yes i know) opt apps from lunatics the activity on the GPU was "continuously high". Maybe I'm wrong.... That's why I wrote it looks like... And yes I did gorget to mention that I only had astropuls task for the GPU..Sorry! Cant's say anythin about the others at the moment. didn't had those tasks yet. It looks like ATI stock openCL apps don't work for me.. sorry! |

GPU&Grpfx-memory clock is high (temperature goes up) but there is no activity.(default settings GPU&Grpfx-memory not overclocked) activity on the card goes up after stopping tasks running on the CPU. Have similar issues with opt-apps. Had best results using catalyst 11.3(x64) driver in the past. (using opt-apps) |

Post: Hi, I didn't know where to place this post.so excuse me if i did chose the wrong topic! i'm using a ATI HD5870 GPU to crunch some WU's. From the moment i build this GPU into the system i used the catalyst 11.2 driver (including the opencl). (system runs windows 7 64bit) Now this driver package is update some times since the one i use. I thought to update my driver to catalyst 11.9 That is wehere the problems started. The problem is not the use of this driver in combination with the system itselve. But it looks like the WU's are slower processed by the optimzed applications. (from lunatics site, the apps from the "installer 0.38"). It looks like the GPU is used "just for a little ", activity is low with 11.9 driver. (activity is 0% for al "long "time, then for a short time the activity is "low" for example 20%). With the 11.2 driver the activity of the GPU is allmost constantly "high". Anyone experienced the same? Tried a few times uninstalling an reinstalling both 11.2 and 11.9 catalyst driver package. I'm back to 11.2 now. it looks to me this driver is better for crunching. but anyone an idea.. am i doing someting wrong? grtz, Pascal |
