I was going to post this in the Whatcha Watching thread, but I wanted to make sure everybody knows that there's a new tv show starting tonight(Friday, July 20th) on the History Channel. If any of you are like me, I loved the original show in the 70's, hosted by Leonard Nimoy. It explored all sorts of unexplained phenomena in a serious way, plus I loved the original series' theme music!

The new show will be hosted by Zachary Quinto.

From what I read on my tv's program guide, the first episode that airs tonight will be about SETI.

I watched the show, and it was pretty good. In addition to SETI and METI, the topic of alien abduction was discussed, and I know that's an eye-roller for a lot of people, but the show dealt with it in as scientific a way as possible.

Andrew Siemion gave a tour of Green Bank, and talked about Fast Radio Burst 121102, in connection with the Breakthrough Listen project. A representative of METI discussed a musical scale message sent to Luyten's star, which is 12 light years away. He said they chose that star system based on proximity to us, and it's exoplanet data.

Overall, a good show; I look forward to future episodes.

Thanks for the information about the new show.
The original with Leonard Nimoy was great.
