Was looking for a Raven-Ridge APU laptop.
Found one at a slight discount so bought.
Ryzen 5 with vega 8 APU.
2400 mhz dual channel memory. 8 GB.
When i first started up, installed Seti@home and encountered system crashes, with
GPU WU running for a few seconds, and then restarting.
Kept running into low Display brithness as well.
After a window update to win 10 1709 and forcing a radeon update to
Win10-64Bit-Radeon-Software-Adrenalin-Edition-18.1.1-Jan18
I have to say that this is one nice laptop.
Been running 3 days with no problem.

HP really should try harder at making more user friendly right out the box.

After playing with the laptop a few more days i've made some changes.
First using the Core-temp app i noticed some high, and erratic core temperatures.
Core-temp displays 4 different load freq/percentage values for the 8 threads running.
One load value showed significant throttling on a set of 2 threads, with much lower frequencies.
I blame shoddy workmanship in assembly by HP, so i redid the thermal paste, with good temps now.
Lower idle temps, lower high temps with little freq throttling . Before some temps were in low 90's,
now idle temps in low 40's and full load temps in mid 70's.
Not sure if the renewal of the thermal paste has had any effect on the gpu but suspect
some improvement due to better thermals.
I also added a 0.5 TB evo 960 ssd to the 1 TB Hdd that the laptop came with.
I'm in the process of getting win 10 installed without all of the HP junk they put in the software.

It's fun playing with new toys.
