Woman arrested for blasting same opera song for 16 years

STUROVO, Slovakia – A woman in Slovakia started playing opera at a loud volume to drown out the sound of a neighbor’s barking dog—and then continued blasting the music, at all hours of the day, for 16 years, neighbors say.

She has finally been arrested and faces charges of harassment and malicious persecution, the BBC reports, citing local media.

Neighbors say she constantly played a four-minute aria from Giuseppe Verdi’s La Traviata, as performed by Placido Domingo, at full blast. Local residents reportedly had a nickname for the residence: “the Opera House.”

This is scary. I've used this stuff in the past:

https://www.cnn.com/2018/08/10/health/monsanto-johnson-trial-verdict/index.html

All it means is that a Jury found that it caused his illness.
It doesn't actually mean it did.

That's true, but it's enough to make me never use it again.

Keep in mind that he was a farmworker. Farmers are able to buy concentrated solutions that are way more powerful than consumers. When I was farming I would buy a 5 gallon drum that would make 500 gallons with 24oz. It was almost a dark brown molasses consistency.

The story said,
Johnson, 46, applied Roundup weedkiller 20 to 30 times per year while working as a groundskeeper for a school district near San Francisco, his attorneys said.

Either way, it's bad enough advertising for me, that I will not be buying any more, but shame on me for even buying it in the first place.

It was a freezing morning here (got down to 19°c), and it didn't warm up much till late in the day (barely made it to 31°c).

Grant.. love your sense of humour, tho our Summers get stinking horrid hot here in Adelaide, can't wait till it warms up here as long as it cools down at night..

If daytime temps stayed between 28c - 35c and at night 12c - 16c I'd be a happy chappy..

Steve

P.S. Grant have you ever lived outside Darwin?

It kicked off here at -5C (felt like -8C) this morning and our expected max was for 18C, but we actually hit 20C here today.

Cheers.

The news gets weirder by the day......... EWWW - GROSS!
Man with ‘prostate issue’ pees in deli meat case at Michigan grocery store, cops say
A Michigan man faces charges after he was caught peeing in a grocery store display case, according to police.

The suspect said he just couldn’t hold it.

The 69-year-old suspect hasn’t been identified, but police said they cited him Sunday night after someone snapped a picture of him urinating onto pre-packaged hot dogs in a Kroger grocery store deli meat display case in Swartz Creek, MLive reports.

I've never been to a drive-in movie theatre, but strangely enough, a brand new one has just been built and opened, here in Louisville, Kentucky:

Back then. A truck spraying DDT, there are many, many insects in Florida, would travel up down the lanes. We didn't know back then what the dangers were.

That's pretty scary.

I used to love going to the drive-in! That was in South Africa. But apparently (according to this 2014 article) sadly the digital age killed them off :(

The one that we most often went to, gets a mention... Velskoen (meaning skin shoe)...

... located in Randburg, closed down in 2012 after its last show (Men in Black III)

“All cinemas in the country have switched over to a digital system in the past year…The drive-in still functions on a film-projection system and the availability of these reels is extremely scarce,” Menlyn Park’s marketing manager, Andrea de Wit told eNCA.

The management team added that, due to the distance and the size being projected in the drive-in cinemas, digital projection is not an option.

“This has been the case nationwide. We understand the importance of the drive-in and the bond with our patrons. Unfortunately this is the reality of the situation.”

Additionally, Menlyn noted that, due to the “serious shortage” of movies appearing on 35mm projector reel, it had become increasingly difficult to source blockbuster films to show at the drive-in.

So I really am quite jealous you've got one nearby, and might have to not talk to you for ages... like a whole minute or something...

;)

I was quite surprised to find that there are still 16 Drive-Ins still operating over here consider that there were over 300 back in the 1950's/1960's.

Cheers.
