Anyway....
Had 6 cigs left last night before I went to bed.

I tossed 'em in the toilet, because I knew that getting up this morning would be the hardest time to resist.

Been up an hour and a half, and didn't even attempt to find a butt long enough to light.
Mostly just a kinda nervous energy....like I am supposed to be doing something.
Think I'll take that energy to the kitchen and toss together a crockpot of chili so I have something to eat after I get that tooth yanked out in a few hours.

Another round of thanks to all who are providing their support.
Made it past the first morning. I might have cheated had I not flushed my last few last night. That was a good decision on my part.

Had my oral surgery this morning. Owie.
Novocaine is wearing off about now and it hurts. Hydrocodone is kicking in about now and it helps.

Only problem is I gotta watch it with the painkiller, because like alcohol, it tends to alter your decision making processes somewhat. Pretty much the same deal.

But every single hour that goes by, this is going to get easier, believe it or not.
Because every time I say 'no' to the urge, I get another tick in the win column.
And the bigger the win column gets, the less I wanna screw it up.

The kittyman LIKES winning. LOL.

That's the largest part of it.
Tax the cigs, and then sales tax on top of that.
So they are actually charging tax on the tax.
Go figure.

I was surprised as well... they are more expensive than in Canada where we usually pay higher taxes. This could be because the taxes are being diverted into health care to pay for the increased care/expense smokers incur whereas our health care is already covered by other taxes anyways. But you're correct the increases have mostly been in the last two decades coincident with banning smoking in public areas (ie bars, restaurants, etc.), advertising legislation and tobacco companies losing huge lawsuits.

When I gave up in 2007 they were £5 now they are £11. Mainly budget tax increaeses.

I'm thinking a pack back in 1989 was $1.65. That was retail. But I had a friend that bought them at the Onondaga reservation for $10.00 dollars a carton. That was a lot of cash back then. I wonder what that would be in 2017 dollars now with inflation?
