After issues with last Acer netbook I bought HP's Atom-based one. There are too many Atom modifications now to be aware of their capabilities (for me) but this one is with iGPU. So I allowed it to run 2 CPU + GPU SETI tasks (currently pure stock). And I'm very pleased with its performance that overcomes both my prev AMD's APU based devices. Little faster CPU part would not be big surprise, but iGPU is considerably faster too. That's very interesting. And all this power goes on passive cooling (no fan in this device at all). Acer's both had fan (that eventually was an issue in older netbook). Old C-60 based still operational (though non-transportable due to case plastic destruction from aging+heat). So APRs can be compared. C-60: https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=6319955 Atom (BOINC detects it as Celeron): https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=8333406 A4-1250: https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=8320454 (too low statistics cause this netbook died too soon, but it was only little faster than old C-60) SETI apps news We're not gonna fight them. After issues with last Acer netbook I bought HP's Atom-based one. . . Hi Raistmer, . . Does it exhibit the same behaviour as other integrated Intel GPUs? If you disable the iGPU crunching does the CPU show a great increase in crunching speed ( in the order of doubling )?? Stephen ? |

3.88 GFLOPS So, hardly disabling iGPU would improve overall device throughput. But I will do formal testing later. SETI apps news We're not gonna fight them. We're gonna transcend them. |

I've generally been impressed with my Celeraon J1900 since I got it. Since it is the Silvermont(Bay Trail) version it only has a 7th generation Ivy Bridge iGPU, but still does pretty well. Starting with your version, using 8th generation iGPU, Intel has used the same GT1 iGPU for the SoCs that the mobile CPUs use. So iGPU performance should be much better than mine. I've been considering setting up a few more of these kinds of system with either a Celeron J3455 or Pentium J4205. Seems iGPU SETI build starts to payout at last :D SETI apps news We're not gonna fight them. We're gonna transcend them. |
