We're not suffering from that level of crisping, Dr Who Fan. It's just as well really, because we've already gone and dried up a lot. I think (but will need to go and verify it before I can assure everyone it's not complete garbage) that parts of London are underpinned by clay. An interesting substance, both wet and dry. But that's beside my point. That is this --> https://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/uk-weather-forecast-latest-amazing-images-show-country-turning-brown-amid-unusually-dry-summer-a3891466.html

My commiserations though on your heatwave. I do hope it's not one of those ones you guys slide over the Atlantic for us to then enjoy... I really really do... :)

There are an enormous number of wildfires engulfing stuff at the moment :( I do wish everyone who is contending with them, well.

Here's that clay thing I was talking about earlier.

So for us here in the UK a warning

Stay out of the sun till Friday!!

The public are being advised to take shelter from the sun, as the joint warning from the NHS, Public Health England and the Met Office says there is a 90% probability of heatwave conditions until 09:00 BST on Friday.

Us poor old pale white Brits are not used to this!!

It was supposed to rain over the last weekend but all I saw was a few dark clouds in the distance no precipitation here, now into the eighth week I believe

It is a bit “warm” here as well.

Hottest day of the year, 35C at Heathrow

I was really uncomfortable this afternoon, two fans just couldn’t keep the room cool.

So I am now in one of my “locals” which is air conditioned enjoying a nice cold pint.

Next decision, another pint or walk home!

32 C again...
Well. In the city of Ouargla in Algeria, the temperature reached 51.3 C on July 5th. It's the highest temperature measured reliably on the African continent.

We've just had a nice 5 minutes. A flash shower with thunder & some lightning Temp at 30C but that nice cool breeze during the shower was welcome. :-)

Not that many miles away. Forecast for here is 10F cooler on Tuesday. Of course it isn't that many miles to the real heat spot, Death Valley where Tuesday it is supposed to get to 123F, er 50.5C!

48.3 degrees Celsius...Unreal. It's 80 deg., F/27 deg. C now, at 08:00 pm, and forecast to hit 96 deg. F, tomorrow.
That's plenty warm, but approx. normal for August, in New England. The Goldenrod is starting to bloom, and its yellow
flowers herald frost in about 6 weeks., if I recall correctly.

Still very hot(90's) during the day, here, but this morning there are toadstools growing in my backyard. The temperatures at night have gone down to around 70 F, and that coupled with very high humidity, has caused an old spot where a tree used to be to sprout some fungus.
