I was wondering about my new GTX 1060 card and hope someone can look at this:

I currently run an ASUS STRIX OC GTX 1060 6Gb in one of my SETI crunchers:
https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=8118673

My Vlar's take about 22-27min and non vlar's 10-12min
I have been running lunatics beta 4 and now I'm running the new beta 6 with r3557.
Same results on both.

The GPU is running 3 WU's with 3 CPU cores reserved.
The spare CPU core is crunching also.

I've been looking at other computers running a single 1060 Gb:
https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=7801910
and also
https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=8052676

They seem to complete vlar's in about 8-10min and non vlar's in half that time.

I've sent messages to the owners of the above computers asking about number of WU's and so on.

But I wanted to also ask here on the message board.
So any ideas?

Running 1WU at a time is always faster than running 2 or 3.
You need to determine if running more than 1 WU at a time produces more work per hour or less.

Yes, I was also thinking of that and realized I never tried 1 WU or 2.

I will try that.

I was wondering about this too. Have new GTX 1080 x 2. I have read I might be better off dropping SLI too.

From what I could tell when I tried a few months ago with my 980 Ti's it seems that SLI is ignored by OpenCL so you can keep them bridged for games and they'll crunch SETI just fine.

I'd also imagine you'll definitely want to double up your tasks for those cards; I get maybe 20% more work done on my 1070's by running two tasks at once.

If aren't using the SLI for gaming then it is better to turn off SLI and helps improve GPU function.

Thanks for the feedback. My first SLI and it's a new gaming notebook and I have not let it crunch hard for more than an hour or two at a time.

I just updated to 375.95 and will try un-bridged when this batch of work is finished and then some double up tasks. COOL! ;^)

My laptop cooler is in need of repair before I'll let it crunch full time. Most of my crunchers have been notebooks so I've learned to monitor temperatures.

I have an MSI 1060 6GB and I use default BOINC with no serious modifications. I guess that means 1 WU at a time. I think I get about 3-5 minutes for the easy tasks, and 8-10 minutes for the longer ones. Wonder if OP has noticed any change after trying 1 WU

Hi,

I'm now running only 1 WU and it's going quite well.
RAC has gone up to about 19,700 :-)
