I can't think that you folks need a Donald Trump
but it looks like he may do very well in Europe...

He will probably get told to go and fornicate with himself next time he comes over here ( and that's in a couple of weeks to his golf course in Scotland )
Life is what you make of it :-)

When i'm good i'm very good , but when i'm bad i'm shi#eloads better ;-) In't I " buttercups " p.m.s.l at authoritie !!;-)

I'm off to put my feet up & enjoy several Rum & Blacks - stuff Doctors Orders :-)

Don't forget to have a slice of toast with some Marmite on.... Sirius.

You got to be kidding! The only thing I like on my toast that begins with an M is Marmalade, specially Robertson's Golden Shred.

Shame they don't have their (in)famous icon on their jars anymore, that would really P off the EU brigade.

Once EU was an idea that citizens could work and travel freely within the EU nations.
Well, the EU still has that motto.
My GF is going for a daytrip to Denmark today with her daughter and grandchildren.
For about 100 years there has not been a problem to do that in our Nordic countries.
No passport or visas needed.
Danish border control: "Er du fra Sverige?" Are you from Sweden?
Answer: "Ja." Yes.
Border control: "Det er dejligt. Velkommen" Thats nice. Welcome.
Most of the time it was no border control!

Now, it is a problem at the border control!!!
Thank you EU Mups, hrmpf, MEPs!!!

I think that may actually be a 9/11 thing and not an EU thing. You're talking about planes right?

I remember going over "THE Bridge" (Bron/Broen)* but I really can't remember if I needed my passport... I don't think I did?

*Copenhagen-Malmo and yes, great series too :)

-----

On a thread-related note, really curious as to the outcome of THE vote...

When the Yes/No vote happened in Greece I got that REALLY wrong. I was thinking it would be smthg like 55/45 YES after a week of TV bombardment but that's not at all what happened :P

Would be astonishing if the same happens in the UK...

It's not about security checks and "War on Terrorism".
It's EU that are panicking because of all the refugees from Middle East and Africa.
Our problem to travel freely within the Nordic countries started only six months ago and said to be only temporarly.
Rather silly act by EU since the refugee stream almosted ended last autumn.
And now it's the travelling companies responsibility to do this border control.
If they don't do them they are accused to trafficking.
Meaning going over the bridge takes more then one hour longer.

Grrr....

It's time for statesmen to return rather than "little boys" throwing tantrums

Out of the EU means we will have to look seriously at cutting back on foreign aid if the government felt the need to increase taxes. Britain first, everyone else second, it's what the general public would expect under the circumstances.

Talk about calling the kettle black

If it is that clear, then surely, the global crisis of 2008 was clear enough to head off?

:(
Jo Cox's husband says she "believed in a better world" and urges people to "fight against the hatred that killed her".

A link from another Alex put in the Trump thread. Thanks Alex.

Yanis on Brexit

Very well said with valid points.

Unfortunately there is one big flaw. Yes it is best to force change from within - The question is: - WHO will that be?

He himself tried & was forced out, further confirming that the EU Elite do not care about the nations within its grasp but only care to see their narrow view of the "European Dream" succeed.

It has failed & big time, so best out, sorry Yanis.

Yanis being brilliantly blunt again :)

Yeah, I can't bring myself to completely agree with him on this either. But I keep outsmarting myself whenever I try and think "what would I vote for if I had to?"

I wanna say Brexit because I love the idea of the EU but the guys running it appear to hate it. So as someone living in Greece my gut is saying:

Run to the Hills (ba-papum, ba-papum, ba-papum), run for your life!
(LOL if I was Farage I'd ask Iron Maiden for permission to use)

There's one big catch though and I haven't seen it mentioned by anyone, anywhere.

If Britain is to exit then the country needs a government that is going to get off its arse, roll up its sleeves and go "Right, how can we make the best of this?"

Meanwhile the government Britain actually has and almost everybody knows it (just haven't connected the dots yet) is going to go:

"Right you bastards. You wanted Brexit? No problem. We're going to shove another hundred neolib BS policies down your throat - pretend it's 'politics' - and then blame it on Brexit by claiming it's the sacrifice the average bloke has to make".

How's that for foresight? ;)

Obviously the good news is that you can now vote 'em out.

IOW if there was a Maggie type waiting in the wings I'd say Brexit all the way.

Right now I'm just kinda leaning...

---

There's an irony and a tragedy here though. London is the de-facto capital of the EZ. Which is funny because it's not even in the EZ. Which I'll go over and rub in Snark's face now (among other points).

---

Another thing I've not seen mentioned (but I'm sure it has) is why the hell is everybody in power all over the EZ and the UK waving an "IN" flag and then go and schedule the referendum in the middle of a sporting event that's sacred to Brits (and most of Europe for that matter). Now yeah, yeah I know... I'm treading on conspiracy theory territory here... But how dumb do you have to be?

Soccer... *ahem* FOOTBALL isn't exactly the Eurovision song contest where nobody gives a toss really :)

No conspiracy theory Alex...

..."Charlie Whelan, who served as the press man for Gordon Brown when he was Britain's Chancellor of the Exchequer, told the BBC they always avoided any political event clashing with a major football tie."

As for that mupppet at No 10, HE knew that Euro 2016 would be taking place, but he thought better...

...poor fool :-)
