Emergency funds to fight that deadly virus may run out in October because they were poached to fight Zika until Congress agreed on a plan to battle the new, mosquito-borne epidemic. http://www.politico.com/story/2016/07/congress-zika-ebola-225317#ixzz4DwESqwBv |

+2 Superbug gene detected in a second person in the U.S. Researchers have found bacteria resistant to the antibiotic of last resort in a sample from a second patient in the United States, according to a study published Monday. The patient had surgery at a New York hospital last year, researchers said. The news comes after researchers reported in late May that a patient in Pennsylvania carried a strain of E. coli bacteria that was resistant to the antibiotic colistin, the antibiotic that doctors use to treat patients who have infections that don't respond to other drugs. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/to-your-health/wp/2016/07/11/superbug-gene-detected-in-a-second-person-in-the-u-s/ |

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/07/16/nyregion/zika-virus-female-to-male-sexual-transmission.html The first case of female-to-male sexual transmission of the Zika virus has been documented in New York City, raising the prospect that the disease could spread more widely beyond the countries where it is already endemic and largely transmitted by mosquitoes. Yep... another STD. https://youtu.be/iY57ErBkFFE #Texit Don't blame me, I voted for Johnson(L) in 2016. Truth is dangerous... especially when it challenges those in power. |

New antibiotic, found in the nose, could treat deadly infections It's not often that something really useful comes out of your nose. Yet German scientists credit bacteria in the humble human schnoz with producing an antibiotic that appears powerful enough to kill dangerous skin infections. The antibiotic is produced by a type of staph bacteria found in about 10% of people's noses, according to a study published online Thursday in Nature. http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/2016/07/27/new-antibiotic-found-nose-could-treat-deadly-infections/87576870/ |
