Hello, it just an idea I had, but is it possible to use a DoublePrecision GPU as a twoway SinglePrecision operating device ? I have noticed SETI uses only SinglePrecision, why not use the full capaceties ? Is there a way to do that ? How could it be make real ? Must be a gpu splitting in the drivers of AMD !? I asking this because my HD 6950 can crunsh but why does it not uses its double capabilitys ? Have u ever tryed ? Im searching in google , but no success... Thats all. |

I think a quick explanation might be the same reason why you can't run two 32-bit apps on a 64-bit CPU to "fully use" the 64-bit processor. SETI@home classic workunits: 93,865 CPU time: 863,447 hours Join the [url=http://tinyurl.com/8y46zvu]BP6/VP6 User Group[ |

Actually, GPU uses just reverse sequence. To combine 2 SP units to produce DP number. That's why DP performance much smaller than SP one on GPUs. |
