WTH is wrong with America?
The Republican Texas governor, Greg Abbott, who has signed laws easing firearms restrictions after past mass shootings, called it an “unspeakable tragedy”.
Texas allows its residents to legally carry guns without a licence or training.

Not a thing.

Normally I do not post anything on this subject because the most vocal here seem to be not even from this country, and I can do more good as an NRA Life Member and Golden Eagle by contributing all I can to the NRA and the NRA-ILA to make sure our Constitution and its amendments remain in effect. Once in a while however, all this rhetoric gets to me and I and I have to say something about how some are so quick to blame the weapon rather than the person using it.

I do not expect this to change your mind and nothing you can say will change mind, so you can keep on writing, and I will keep on contributing. :)

Accept that there are too many hot headed 'idiots' to allow sensibly the 'unrestricted freedom' to all-too-easily kill others?

The USA has moved ahead many years beyond any need for 'armed militiamen' or for vigilantes.

Also, a strongly proven bonus of Democracy and a Police for the Polis (people) is the beauty of Peace. All arguments get decided without violence by representatives of everyone.

Or you can have your (fake cinema) Hollywood Wild West where everyone lives by the gun and too many die and Democracy is an excuse to kill...

The NRA truly are a Russian sponsored terrorist organisation...

Who profits from that?

Only in the USA?...

I have to say something about how some are so quick to blame the weapon rather than the person using it.

Pro people control? Or pro gun control?

As other countries have solved the issue by making sure the criminal and the crazy don't have access. In some places the criminal and the crazy are in a cage. In others places the weapons are in a cage. The problem in the USA is both the are not in a cage because both have "rights."

Past time to regulate the militia. Inventory control and universal recurring background and psychological tests. Won't be perfect because there are far too many out in the wild right now, but give it a couple of decades.

Our other problem is firearms safety, recurring mandatory training.

We all know how unregulated gun possession works; let me quote: https://www.jackandjilltravel.com/bodie-ghost-town-california/ wrote:

Bodie was even more on the wild side, witnessing 70 shooting incidents and nearly 30 murders between 1878 and 1882, which translates to a homicide rate 10 times that of present-day Chicago.

I agree with you, fully automatic guns should be allowed as should claynore mines rpgs and all other weapons of war after all this is the country of American exceptionalism.
The fact 83% of the population wants some further restrictions does not matter the culture war is more important than safety.

You would think that with at least 199 mass shootings and so very many kids killed so far this year a country would wake up and grow up by now, but sadly an ever shrinking minority is still holding it back from doing so. :-(

Good for you. You are entitled to your opinion.
However, please read my post again, & try to comprehend the message.
There is nowhere within it does the weapon get blamed.
In fact, the two quotes alone shows where the issues lie.

What truly amazes me is the fact that whenever guns are discussed, there is always one who pops up & moans about those outside America criticising it, all the while ignoring one important caveat - Yanks are not the only people that handle weapons.

Personally, I have to thank the British Army for teaching me SAA (Skill at Arms).
Therefore, that second quote speaks volumes to me.

Unlicensed & untrained?
No wonder America is in such a mess.

The mad Abbott of Texas gets shot down, figuratively speaking that is.

Are Texas Gun Deaths Higher Than California? Abbott, Newsom In New Battle.

......According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Texas had almost double the firearm mortality rate compared to California in 2021, the most recent year data was available. The graph shows that in 2021, California had 3,576 firearm-related deaths out of its 39 million residents .and Texas had 4,613 firearm-related deaths out of its 29 million residents.......
That's a 73.3% higher gun death rate.

I can see a mass shooting happening in Texas where 1 person shoots someone, then a few hundred other guns get pulled out and everyone starts shooting at everyone with a gun out killing hundreds.

Lovely fantasy, but out of 100 Texans at random, only 2 are gun owners, of course they own 300 guns between them.
