That blancolirio YT video makes painful watching :-(
She may not have been the brightest ever, but she was also the victim of a "flight instructor" who wasn't the greatest ever. I may have missed it, but:
Did she actually read the manual for the auto pilot and understand its limitations?
Did she go go through the auto pilot's controls on the ground with someone who knew how it worked?
Why did she choose her (non-pilot) father to be her "instructor"?
Allegedly 400 hours and she still didn't understand the relationship between power and attitude - that's often covered in one of those "trial lessons", and almost certainly in the first few hours.....

You really have to wonder how some people get a licence to drive heavy vehicles when they do things like this.

Crikey, if you don't have room to clear the tracks you wait until there is before crossing those tracks.

Lock him up for life without parole, let him rot in his prison cell with a life sized picture of the deceased painted on the wall for him to see every day he remains on this earth.

Dallas fatal crash sent pedestrian through windshield. Driver continued for miles, cops say
A pedestrian who was hit by a car Saturday night in Dallas crashed through its windshield — ending up in the passenger seat — as the driver continued his journey until reaching a Jack in the Box parking lot in White Settlement.

When police were called to the scene around 11 p.m. Saturday they found the victim in the passenger seat, according to the news release. Paramedics were called to the scene, but the victim was already dead, police said.

The driver of the gray Kia Forte, 31-year-old ****, told officers he thought he’d hit an animal somewhere between Dallas and White Settlement, the news release states.

Investigators said in an update Sunday that investigators in Dallas County determined that **" hit the pedestrian on a service road in Dallas. The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, which is taking over the case, said the crash happened on the Interstate 30 service road near Cockrell Hill Road.

There, according to White Settlement police, Dallas County authorities found human remains they believe are the result of the crash. Investigators with White Settlement police believe *** drove 38 miles with his windshield broken and a dead body in his passenger seat.

...

*** is charged with intoxication manslaughter, according to police. Investigators received a blood sample with a warrant and are waiting for results.

Court records from Collin County indicate *** pleaded guilty in 2021 to driving while intoxicated in 2020. Court records list the sentence as “local jail,” but do say for how long.

A good example of why it's not a good idea to drive through flood waters- the road may no longer even be there...

How can you screw up something so simple?
6-year-old flying alone was put on wrong flight
A six-year-old boy was flown hundreds of miles away from his family after Spirit Airlines put him on the wrong flight.

“They told me, ‘No, he’s not on this flight. He missed his flight.’ I said, ‘No, he could not miss his flight because I have the check-in tag,'” said (Grandmother). “I ran inside the plane to the flight attendant and I asked her, ‘Where’s my grandson? He was handed over to you at Philadelphia?’ She said, ‘No, I had no kids with me.'”

(Grandmother) told WINK News it was one of the scariest things she’s ever experienced. Then (Grandson) called, saying he had landed.

Luckily, (Grandson) was four hours away in Orlando. His bag somehow made it to RSW.

Spirit Airlines sent a statement to WINK News:

On Dec. 21, an unaccompanied child traveling from Philadelphia (PHL) to Fort Myers (RSW) was incorrectly boarded on a flight to Orlando (MCO). The child was always under the care and supervision of a Spirit Team Member, and as soon as we discovered the error, we took immediate steps to communicate with the family and reconnect them. We take the safety and responsibility of transporting all of our Guests seriously and are conducting an internal investigation. We apologize to the family for this experience.

Speeding I doubt, but wayward certainly as the SUV came down the straight and just failed to turn with the bend. Did the driver fall asleep or were they just playing with their phone at the time? Police don't know as yet, but I bet the driver of it got their attention back on the road after hitting the grass and gravel on the wrong side of it real quick.

A Queensland family of five is lucky to be alive after a speeding car crossed into their lane from the opposite direction.

Normally I don’t read this thread but that DUI DRIVER should rot in a prison cell for life without possibility of parole.

Some people can be very lucky.

Fishermen spotted something shiny near a creek. It was the first step toward a ‘miracle’.

The two men had gone out the day after Christmas, scouting for fishing holes at a creek in northwest Indiana, when something shiny in the distance caught their attention.

Mario Garcia and his son-in-law Nivardo Delatorre had been ready to call it a day. But curiosity took hold. They went to check it out.

Closer and closer they walked toward the shiny thing, there under the Interstate 94 bridge, Garcia later would recall. Then, it finally took shape:

A mangled truck.

The fishermen got even closer – right up to the driver’s door, the father-in-law said. Sticking his hand inside the cabin, Garcia moved an airbag out of the way to reveal something he and Nivardo Delatorre hadn’t been able to see at all from back at Salt Creek: somebody in the driver’s seat.

The person, Garcia assumed, was dead.

Then, he touched the man’s shoulder.

“He swung around,” Garcia said. “He woke up.”

Startled, Garcia asked his son-in-law to dial for help.

Soon, the pair of fishermen would be part of a rescue mission nearly a week in the making. It was something the pinned driver had begun to think nearly impossible – and an effort destined to be described in the end by one veteran public servant with a watchword of this magical season: “miracle.”.....

Is there an international competition to see who can get the most unlikely object stuck, or destroyed, under a bridge.
If so, then I assume this is India's entry

If not #1 most obscure "stuck" object, it's certainly flying pretty high on the list you can say.

It only takes 1 fool behind the wheel of a truck to cause death and chaos. :-(

Two train drivers have died in a truck-train collision on the SA-NSW border.

An update on that story.

The 75-year-old truck driver from Queensland was taken to the Broken Hill Hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Major Crash investigators have now charged him with two counts of causing death by dangerous driving.

He did not apply for bail and will appear in the Port Pirie Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Senior Constable Kimberley Broad said the Barrier Highway remains closed in both directions between Peterborough and the New South Wales border.

"It's expected to be closed for most of today," she said.
Truck driver charged over crash that killed two SA train workers near NSW border
As the photos show, that area is prey flat, and the rail line is raised up above much of the surrounding area (as is the road to a lesser extent) to avoid flooding when it does (very occasionally) get wet. I can only assume the driver didn't want to lose time waiting for the train to pass so decided he could race it across the crossing before it arrived. Unfortunately, he was wrong.

Seeing as the truck driver is 75yrs old I wonder how his eyesight is as you can't miss a train coming there from any direction (and that crossing looks a lot better now than the last time I was out there).

And that concertina pattern of the derailed wagons is yet another typical/characteristic example of the too-old uncoordinated dumb pneumatic/vacuum braking systems used, being far too slow to respond for safe emergency braking for those long trains...

When will the train companies be forced into going with the much faster acting electronic braking controls to more safely run such long trains?

When will the drivers get adequate protection??

This year is not off to a good start.

A Japan Airlines plane has burst into flames as it landed on the runway at Tokyo's Haneda Airport.

Footage from public broadcaster NHK showed flames coming out of the windows of an aircraft.
NHK is reporting the Japanese coastguard said one of their aircraft may have collided with the flight JL 516.
The broadcaster adds the fire has spread throughout the plane.

A Japan Airlines spokesperson said the plane's 367 crew and passengers have evacuated.

Edit- apparently everyone evacuated- plane is a total loss.

The crew on flight 516 deserves the highest praise for evacuating all passengers & themselves without any fatalities from a burning aircraft.
