That was scary to watch. On a job many moons ago, I used to have to take a long drive down a boring section of highway, sparsely commuted, too, but I never set the cruise control for fear I would fall asleep.

A car which overturned and caught fire in the A2 highway in Switzerland was a Tesla, the Swiss road Police says. Its driver, a German citizen, died in the fire. The Swiss Police suspects that the batteries were damaged in the overturned car after hitting a guardrail and burned explosively.

In Italy you have only outside rear mirrors on the left side on your car.
Now you know why:)

Maybe that's why some of the best bicycles and parts are made in Italy.

Having lived in Italy for nearly 10 years and spent 6 months in Cambridge MA, I can assure you that all of Boston's streets are wide.
I would advise anybody spending time in Italy and wanting to visit a lot of the historical sites invest in a Cinquecento or a Vespa it can save a lot of time and effort.

...make sure its a PROPER Cinquecento not the modern "Micra in a Fiat dress" - they are too wide (don't ask how I know...).

I had a Fiat 500 station wagon (Giardinetta) in 1954. It was my dad's car. You had to make a "doppietta" (put in neutral, accelerate and down shift) to go to lower gear. Now I have a Lancia Ypsilon, aged 2002, with a perfect gearshift and rear mirrors on both sides. It just fits my box. Lancia Beta 1800 was a problem, but the double overhead cam engine was a dream.

Only had two proper Cinquecentos, one in Cyprus and one in Italy. The one in Cyprus was traded up to an 850 coupe, then a Lancia Fulvia 1.6HF.

Sichuan Airlines co-pilot 'sucked halfway' out of cockpit, captain says.

The co-pilot of a Sichuan Airlines flight that was forced to make an emergency landing on Monday was "sucked halfway" out of the plane after a cockpit windshield blew out, media reported, citing the aircraft's captain.

Liu Chuanjian, hailed a hero on social media after having to land the Airbus A319 manually, told the Chengdu Economic Daily his aircraft had just reached a cruising altitude of 32,000 feet when a deafening sound tore through the cockpit.

The cockpit experienced a sudden loss of pressure and drop in temperature and when he looked over, the cockpit's right windshield was gone.

"There was no warning sign. Suddenly, the windshield just cracked and made a loud bang. The next thing I know, my co-pilot had been sucked halfway out of the window," he was quoted as saying.
Luckily the co-pilot was wearing his seat belt and only suffered minor injuries.

Cheers.

Talk about being lucky.

Beer keg slams into moving car.

It could've been a different story if it was full.

Cheers.

School bus ripped apart in dump truck crash, killing 2.

A school bus taking children on a field trip to a New Jersey historic site collided with a dump truck Thursday, ripping the bus apart and killing a teacher and student.

The crash left the bus lying on its side on the guardrail of Interstate 80 in Mount Olive, its undercarriage and front end sheared off and its steering wheel exposed. Some of the victims crawled out of the emergency exit in the back and an escape hatch on the roof. More than 40 people were taken to hospitals.

"I heard a scraping sound and we toppled over the highway," said fifth-grade student Theo Ancevski, who was sitting in the fourth row of the bus and was treated at a hospital for cuts and scrapes. "A lot of people were screaming and hanging from their seatbelts."
It looks like the tipper owner, Mendez Trucking, has a long string of violations leading up to this accident.

The text description of the damage to the bus is quite poor - it looks a if the body has bee ripped off the chassis...
