On an intel i7 machine (I have two different models) is it better to hyperthread or not. I have heard different opinions on this. I am running two gpu's (amd) r7's and r9's at x8/x8. I only use the cpu's to feed the gpu's.
Thanks

My two cents, especially as you are only using them to feed the GPUs, would be HT off. Should be more efficient.

Shouldn't make much difference in that setting, one way or the other.

When I built my latest cruncher - the only one with an Intel processor I did a little (short) trial. First I ran it using the defaults that came up on build, hyper threading on, after a week or so I turned it off. With HT on I dropped the core count to 6 to feed the GPUs, but with HT on I left all four on.
CPU times were quite a bit lower with HT off, as were GPU times, so I left HT OFF, and all four "real" cores crunching.

I would say leave it off Merle.

I also have an intel Chip but it's one of the high end.

With that one, I do have the HT on and it does help with that computer.

But with the other intel (that I used to have) it didn't help at all.

So I'd say leave it off

That high end you're talking about is probably that monster I saw a picture of with 4 big Nividia's. Must be one of those dream x16,x8, x4,x4 motherboards. :-)

Thanks everybody!
