I had a car like this once Motor and frame, not much more.

My old bit of a car, -'60 something Pontiac Lemans.

Nothing but what was required to keep the engine running.
Stripped all out, one seat.
500 plus cubes.

Nasty machine. One switch turned on the ignition.
After that, you were on your own.

The kid I sold it to eventually did kill himself in it.

The police report said he was doing 120. And I don't believe it.
I saw what was left, had to, because the kid never transferred the title.
It was still in my name. All I could do was convince the cops that I was not driving it.

I had it up to 195 myself. More than once.
And I was gonna buy it back the next weekend from him.
Terrible crash.
In retrospect, I should not have sold it to an 18yo kid.
It was much too much of a car for him to handle.

Don't know what exactly to say..............
Last week I expressed my disarray and sorrow after the passing of a good friend of mine, one James Franz, at the age of 61, and that put me in a bad way, in terms of thinking about my own mortality, as I am 58.

Today at work, I got the news that his BROTHER, John Franz, passed away also, at the age of 55, due to complications of cancer as well..............55.

Now I am really maudlin...........

Two brothers in about a week's time????

I knew both of them, tossed back beers and broke bread with them both.
I am very sad and...............just beyond words.

I just had a call informing me that I WOULD be in attendance at the wake on Saturday.
This does not bode well. I have too much history and too much life I spent in past years at that tavern.
I have been told on no unequal terms that I MUST show up, or else.

I suppose I should, but do not wish to.
This has been on my mind all week now.

I suppose I shall have to make my appearance and hope it does not turn into something of a show that others will take advantage of in their grief.

I was not exactly the tavern clown in those past years, but I sure as hell made my appearance known. Now that Jimmy has passed, and his brother as well, I am expected to make this final show at the tavvy.
I am not sure I could get out of it.

EDIT....
I guess I WAS the tavern clown at times.
I did beat most of my buddies at the pool table, and took a shot of Wild Turkey as my prize.
