Another pseudo-religious effort that is in the Al Gore genre of fraudulent profit. Yet another case of anguished hand wringing over perma-frost with a side order of an endangered species ala polar bears.
I am accepting donations to my pay-pal account to fund my "Yurts for Yetis" charitable effort. The Clinton Foundation wanted to undertake this but I beat them to it.

there’s another in Central Asia that’s so large it’s often called the Third Pole.

Yes William, I did note that it was really a thinly disguised clandestine appeal for Snow leopards and Polar bears, but that in itself is not a bad thing I would have thought. But like all worldwide charity foundations they do seem to have a lot of overheads.

I posted it because I wondered what people thought of a notion of yet another pole? We know we have the two Geographic poles and the magnetic Poles, which themselves vary over time because of the earths molten core.

In 2005, the North Magnetic Pole (NMP) was about 503 miles from the Geographic North Pole in the Arctic Ocean north of Canada. The South Magnetic Pole (SMP) was about 1,756 miles from the Geographic South Pole off the coast of Antarctica in the direction of Australia. In the first part of the 20th century, the poles usually moved about 5.6 miles per year. Then, around 1970, they started moving faster. In recent years they have been moving about 25 miles per year!

And don't forget the Forecast flip

It's all true I tell 'ee, the end of the world is nigh, repent ye sinners, give up your worldly goods and send all the money to the WWF!

I've never heard that area referred to as the 3rd pole. I know it's mountainous and snowy, but didn't really think of it as glaciated. Fascinating part of the world I'd love to visit!

The magnetic North pole is moving to Russia:)

Shhhhh It's a secret plot to destabilise them. When it gets there in 30 years time, a special button will be pressed in the West and all their navigation aids will be rendered useless, including their compasses. All flights will land in Siberia and get frozen in.
