My daily driver just had an "exciting" time, first the CPU repeated overheated - I think its a stuck pump on the Corsair h80i - so I dropped a spare unit in and rebooted.
Now running, but no SETI on the list, so have a look around - the folder is still there, and appears to be OK, look at the event log and find lots lof lines like this:

06/07/2015 20:43:33 | SETI@home | [error] Project SETI@home is in state file but no account file found
06/07/2015 20:43:33 | | [error] Application setiathome_v7 outside project in state file
06/07/2015 20:43:33 | | [error] Application astropulse_v7 outside project in state file

Ouch, looks as if in one of the crashes one of the SETI files got screwed into oblivion :-(

I've now picked up 99 tasks, might be resends, or might be "fresh"....

Just over a year :-(
Its been making noises for a couple of months, but in the last few days the CPU has been running a lot hotter than usual.

I'll take the old one to bits and see what is in there, or what has broken...

My i100 has run now for 2-3 years with no problems. Yours i80 should be OK. (The noise should be enough to warrant it).

I'm probably the best person to tell you that since I did not warrant my GTX780's when their fans started to make noise. I bored holes into them and tried to rescue them with some oil....

If You are getting work back I guess it may have been a temporary hiccup. But ...

I replaced it with one that was meant to be heading into another rig. No coolant was circulating, but there is certainly cooling in it.
