To add to my response to Clyde's question: Two people I see often have expressed support for Trump. One of them was a relaxed guy at the time of the 2012 elections. I can't tell you who he voted for because I don't know, but he didn't spout anti-Obama rhetoric. However, since July of this year, he's talked to me and others about conspiracy theories, owning a gun, having witnessed greater military activity, worry that Obama's coming after his gun, etc. ... . Capitalize on this good fortune, one word can bring you round ... changes. |

I just find it so amazing that most of you Yanks will support a racist bigot warmonger over someone that can see the light (maybe Obama should be allowed to run another term, even kicking & screaming it may just get yous up to the late 20th century instead of the 18/19th). ;-) Maybe it has something to do with the side of the road you people drive on. :-( Cheers. |

I am *FOR* the constitution, as written, as intended, as originally meant. You support slavery? I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that ... |

Ya see, this is why people are angry. People will believe you when you understand how the 14th and the commerce clause work. Your type doesn't want the 14th, at least not what it says, you want to "interpret it" to mean your idea of what you wish it said. |

I am *FOR* the constitution, as written, as intended, as originally meant. Article I Section 2: Representatives and direct taxes shall be apportioned among the several states which may be included within this union, according to their respective numbers, which shall be determined by adding to the whole number of free persons, including those bound to service for a term of years, and excluding Indians not taxed, three fifths of all other Persons. Who were the "three fifths of all other Persons"? Why was the 13th Amendment passed in 1865 (150 years ago)? The fact is that slavery was codified in the constitution as it was written 228 years ago and that's the document you stated you are for as it was originally written, intended and meant. Thus my direct and closed question that you have not answered. You support slavery? Note, I don't believe you support slavery, nor is there an accusation that you do, I believe that you do not support the US Constitution as it was written and that human nature has changed in the 228 years since it was written, specifically the majority of US citizens today find slavery abhorrent, which does not seem to be the case 239 (or 228) years ago. I suspect, if you paused and thought about it for a moment, you'd probably agree, though as such thoughts conflict with your stated point, that the US Constitution was perfect as written, you won't pause for that moment. I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that ... |

I doubt that the Donald Trump we see on television bears much resemblance to the real Donald Trump. Of course this makes it almost impossible to figure out where he really stands on the critical issues. Even if elected he can't run the country by himself. Obama found this to be true early during his tenure. I very much doubt that we would like living in the USA that he envisioned. I still doubt that Trump will get the republican nomination but I don't see where the other candidates stand a prayer of beating Hillary Clinton. Why do you believe I don't support the 27 amendments to the constitution? Until you say you do, your comment about as originally written, etc suggests that you do not. If you support the 13th amendment, then you do not support the constitution as it was originally written. Thus far you have not corrected your statement about the constitution as it was originally written, nor have you stated your opposition to slavery, despite being asked directly, twice. A third pass at the opportunity to answer the direct question will not go unnoticed. You support slavery? Why do you support everything the federal government is doing outside the constitution? On what basis do you believe this to be true? I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that ... |

Guy you stated in Message 1750587 I am *FOR* the constitution, as written, as intended, as originally meant. The amendments came after the constitution was written, if your quote is true then you don't support them. |

Another Left Wing, Internally Hate Filled, Bigot. You believe that none of the scorn directed at President Obama stems from the fact that he is the first African-American to hold the office? I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that ... |

Why do you believe I don't support the 27 amendments to the constitution? Where is the broad, unsubstantiated assumption about you? You declared support for constitution as originally written. I asked whether you supported slavery (as slavery is codified in the constitution as originally written). Despite asking the question 3 times, you have not answered it. The reason for the question mark at the end of "You support slavery" was that you were being asked a question, a period would have indicated a statement. That you haven't answered this simple question in the negative, while at the same time are unchanged in your support of the constitution as it was originally written and intended, suggests that you do support slavery. Earlier in this thread you said that you'd only answer closed questions from me. Seems you won't even do that. I'll add one word to the question to see if that change elicits a response: Do you support slavery? [this is an edited version of Message 1750883 with typos corrected] I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that ... |

I always thought that the Constitution as written made no comment about slavery one way or the other as that was the only way the southern colonies would sign on. I always thought that the Constitution as written made no comment about slavery one way or the other as that was the only way the southern colonies would sign on. While the word slavery does not appear in the Constitution as written, slavery was codified in the document as detailed earlier in this thread. The answer to the question: Who were the "three fifths of all other Persons"? shows this, they were slaves. I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that ... |

Why do you think my definitive statement ended 5 July 1776? I thought you were discussing the constitution. Apparently you were not. Otherwise you would have written September 18, 1787. Stop revising history! |
