how come nobody complains when their rac shoots upward It's a useful engineering thing, to complain when something broke "Living by the wisdom of computer science doesn't sound so bad after all. oh i understand the value of feedback, in fact i should probably complain more but most of the time i'm too indifferent to speak up |

oh i understand the value of feedback, in fact i should probably complain more but most of the time i'm too indifferent to speak up Well for people like me, consider it a philanthropic effort. Every complaint I get i can try to find a way to make something better. "Living by the wisdom of computer science doesn't sound so bad after all. for every complaint there's probably at least a dozen others who have the same problem but have chosen to stay silent. silence doesn't solve most problems |

how come nobody complains when their rac shoots upward When you are shot out of a cannon you don't worry about how high you are going until you start to come back down. SETI@home classic workunits: 93,865 CPU time: 863,447 hours Join the [url=http://tinyurl.com/8y46zvu]BP6/VP6 User Group[ |

yes, nobody complained about the nexus My nexus7 and nexus9 both rock for sure. Nothing works on them yet for seti, but I still love them. yes, nobody complained about the nexus My Older 2012 Nexus 7 with the Nvidia Tegra chipset runs Seti fine, just three up through, My 2012 HTC One S hates running Seti, I think it's something to do with the Qualcomm snapdragon processor/the ondemand scaling governor they share (with the 2013 Nexus 7 I mean), I get them impression the CPU clocks down on it's own, it only project it could run without problem was albert, but even then it would error tasks occasionally. yes, nobody complained about the nexus I could be mistaken, but I think woohoo was referring to the nexus of ones RAC, or perhaps they meant the apex? SETI@home classic workunits: 93,865 CPU time: 863,447 hours Join the [url=http://tinyurl.com/8y46zvu]BP6/VP6 User Group[ |

yes, nobody complained about the nexus Probably... in my own world sometimes ;) "Living by the wisdom of computer science doesn't sound so bad after all. And unlike most advice, it's backed up by proofs." -- Algorithms to live by: The computer science of human decisions. |

This is the current status As of 22 Jul 2015, 21:10:04 UTC. When I did the original post on this, the "total available channels on disk" was either 503 or 504, I can't remember which one. I may be wrong, but the total available channels on a disk does not change, while splitting files on that disk. If that is indeed the case, then the disk currently being worked is in fact a new disk. If my perspective on this is incorrect, then this senile old man deeply apologies. Is there any way to make the "total available channels on disk' static as to when the complete initial loading of the array occurs, that way we see a more accurate accounting of the "channels done" & "total channels to do", also changing the wording from "disk" to maybe "disk array"? Instead of reducing the total available, we increase the number of channels done by x amount, and the channels to do is decreased by 14, which you stated is the amount that is currently being reduced from the total available. This way when one checks the status, we see get a more accurate accounting of what was initially loaded, the total number of channels already split, and the total number of channels remain to split. If my perspective on this is incorrect, then this senile old man deeply apologies. I think what you basically want would be for completed data sets to not be removed automatically once they are finished being split. If you wanted the completed data sets to only be removed once new data was added that wouldn't serve your purpose either. Some data sets can be completed while new ones are still being loaded by the system. It is more of a continuous stream of data & more is added when it starts to get low. In the past data was added more often than once a week or two. I seem to recall that new data was added for 3 or 4 days in a row previously, but that may have been when they had more time on their hands. They could change the display name, but in computer terms "disk", or sometimes disc, is a generic term to refer to any storage medium. In a RAID array it is common to divide the volume into separate "disks". Depending on the complexity of the RAID controller it may also be also to define which individual drives are assigned to which virtual disk. With "only" 120 channels of MBs left to split we may see fresh APs in the next 24 hrs. |

Over the last 3 days I've gotten 14 -- 12 w/ _2 & 2 w/ _3 suffixes, time for a 2nd or 3rd opinion (thus adding my 2 cents on the tasks (sic)). I'll take anything and everything I can get at this point. The first one isn't due until 8/18 and in the mean time I keep sucking up MB tasks like a Hoover vacuum and jumping the queue while the AP tasks sit on the side line again. Aw shucks.... A new AP run, and I have over half the farm shut down all week due to the heat here. Meowsigh. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

Now it is up to 42 channels to split and 6 splitters are running, this is starting to be a nice little run. |
