Thanks to you, and also to someone other for PM. :-)

Until now I wouldn't like to download and burn a DVD. I never did this.

I sent an E-Mail again to the Online-Shop.
I want a new/other DVD.

I sent also an E-Mail to Microsoft, if they could help me to get a new/other DVD (the Online-Shop must send a new/other, or maybe they can do this).

If there is really no way that I can get a new/other DVD, I must burn a DVD.

If then, if I would take the Windows 8.1 x64 DVD, IIRC, during installation, very early I must enter the Product-Key, if I use then the Product-Key of the Windows 8.1 Pro x64 OS, the installation of the Windows 8.1 x64 will continue?
(Just the Pro have dual CPU support. Maybe the installation of 'non Pro' don't work because of this?)

Thanks.

I'm little bit confused about the ASUS Z9PE-D8 WS board.

I understood it like this that PCIe slot #1 to #4 are connected to CPU#1 and PCIe slot #5 to #7 are connected to CPU#2.

hardwareluxx.de - they write:

Google translator said:
»Overall, it has thus 72 PCIe lanes in the new PCIe 3.0 specification is available - this is a proper bandwidth that comes here. Additional chips as Bridges or similar but must not be used as two CPUs are used: The slots 1-4 are CPU 1, the slots 5-7 to the CPU 2. In accordance with the communication in Quad SLI runs over the QPI bus and not directly. Since two QPI links available in dual CPU operation available, the bandwidth should but perfectly sufficient. All onboard components are, however, connected via the C602 chipset.«

The board have two QPI, one each for one CPU.
I don't use SLI or CrossFireX cables.

So does this mean, that VGA card #1 (in PCIe slot #1) and VGA card #2 (in PCIe slot #3) communicate with CPU#1 and
VGA card #3 (in PCIe slot #5) and VGA card #4 (in PCIe slot #7) communicate with CPU#2 ... (I understood it like this) ...?

OK, what happens if I use -cpu_lock in cmdline...
What happens if the project app on VGA card #4 will be fixed on a CPU-thread of CPU#1 (they are not connected)?

Or the two QPI are connected in the northbridge and it could go the above mentioned?
Or the app don't get CPU support and go in a never ending waiting loop?

Thanks.

[...]
I took 2 VGA cards away, just 2 VGA cards installed, PCIe slot #1 and #5, after a few seconds I see something like:
'Insert bootable source and press then any key'.

I have no optical device installed via SATA or something.
Just an USB DVD writer/reader.
In BIOS correct recognized.
In the DVD device the Win8.1 Pro x64 DVD.

(I selected the boot order, 1st HDD 2nd USB DVD and then 1st USB DVD 2nd HDD, in both ways the PC don't see the Windows DVD and say 'insert bootable source'.)

I can't install Windows??

Did you burn the DVD correctly? If it was an ISO image file, it needs to be burnt properly, not just as a data storage disc that has a *.iso file on it. Does that DVD get recognized on boot in other machines?

Does that USB DVD drive work as a boot device on other machines?

Why can't you take a SATA DVD drive out of another machine to use in this one just to get Windows installed?

My experience with the PCI extender cards I have has been mixed.
I have 3 that are working quite well.
I have one left over because some rigs just simply refuse to see it on the PCI buss.
But, they have allowed me to run 3 extra GPUs.

I'm curious, do you have any pictures of your current build? Would be fun to see your system coming together.
