Anybody heard this story:
http://www.churchpop.com/2014/12/24/thor-st-boniface-and-the-origin-of-the-christmas-tree/
:D

That's news to me.
Anyway. The tradition in Germanic countries are that spruce are used for a christmas tree. And as far as I know that tree originate from Germany.
Here in Thor countries that tree was not common here at that time.
However giving sacrifices and hanging slaughterd animals on a tree and letting the blood drip on the white snow is probably true during the Midwinter Feast.

That children was also sacrified seems to me being rubbish.
The germanic tribes didn't have so many individuals to sacrifice.

This is the day before tomorrow and time to prepare for the festivities of Thor's day. I, myself shall waddle down to the pub later this afternoon and have an amber ale followed by a red ale, that works well for me.
Hale Thor and his thirsty ways.

We of the upper left coast are blessed with no NHL teams so we have to settle for the Sea Hawks, eh?

Here's hoping Thor is kind to the new Sun after her mother was devoured by Fenrir two days ago.

Yuletide greetings to one and all.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that ...

Iceland to build first temple to Norse gods in 1,000 years

Icelanders will soon be able to publicly worship at a shrine to Thor, Odin and Frigg with construction starting this month on the island's first major temple to the Norse gods since the Viking age.

Worship of the gods in Scandinavia gave way to Christianity around 1,000 years ago but a modern version of Norse paganism has been gaining popularity in Iceland.

Oh dear. The "religion" has even a name. Germanic Neopaganism:)

Whatever. Ásatrúarfélagið is more like a social club than a religous one.

One can imagine this thread is a factor in Thor's growing popularity.
