Bless me, Thor, for I have sinned. It has been 13 Thor's Days since I honoured you. It will be 1 or 2 more.

Thors day and I felt the smell of "Vitsippa" and other flowers again when walking the dog this morning.
This time on a grave field from the Viking age.

The year 922 described the Arab chronicler, traveler and writer Ibn Fadhlan a Nordic sacrifice ceremony at the Volga river.
The Northerner took the bread, meat, onion, milk and liquor, a raised, high wooden pole with a carved human-like face. Around the post was small wooden figures and beyond these high wooden poles. The Northerners threw thereself down on the earth in front of the great figure, and asked for a good trade.
The small figures he called "our master's wives, daughters and sons" to which he prayed that they would bring forth his prayers. Joined prayer heard sounded northerner slaughter a number of animals. Some of the meat was given away, the second was thrown from the high wooden pole and the lower poles whereas heads were hung.

It's Valborgsmässoafton an annual holiday celebrated in Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Sweden, Czech Republic, Slovenia and Germany, April 30.
While the name Walpurgis is taken from the eighth-century English missionary Saint Walburga, "Valborg", as it is called in Swedish, has very little to do with religion and everything to do with the arrival of spring.
